This is our annual PSA about Bordetella (kennel cough)...
It's that time of year where kennel cough outbreaks are happening all over, and there apparently has been cases reported at facilities around town.
Even though our facility has never had problems with kennel cough, that doesn't mean you shouldn't be cautious because kennel cough is very contagious.
We always recommend getting the Bordetella vaccine, and want to stress to our clients how important it is to monitor how your dog is feeling. If, for any reason, your animal seems to be suffering from any of the symptoms listed below please contact us as soon as possible to reschedule your appointment.
Also If, at your appointment, we recognize any of these symptoms we unfortunately will not be able to take your pet.
Thank you for your understanding!
Symptoms to watch for:
*The "Honking" Cough - A persistent, dry, hacking cough that often sounds like the dog has something caught in its throat.
*Excitability - Coughing fits that are easily triggered by excitement, barking, or pulling on a leash.
*Other Signs - Retching, mild fever, watery nasal discharge, sneezing, and slight lethargy.
