Wednesday Update
Today’s festivities kicked off with a spirited game of Witch Please!
The rules are simple: we shout “WITCH!” and we all move, and then, on “PLEASE!”, the pups must freeze like little statues. Sometimes it’s a quick pause, sometimes it’s an agonizingly long one. And sometimes, apparently, the rules are merely a suggestion.
The pups absolutely love this game because it’s different every time, novelty here is the key! It’s also secretly brilliant for practicing listening skills and frustration tolerance - two very important life skills. Though one pup decided that the contents of my pocket were far more fascinating than anything the witch had to say. Clearly, someone was hoping to discover a pocket full of treats!
Whilst most of the pups were playing this game, individual pups would peel off and pay a visit to the Sensory Barn, where they had an absolute whale of a time. There was sniffing, exploring, investigating and generally getting up to whatever mischief the Halloween magic had in store.
This afternoon, our brave enrichment adventurers tackled our Not-So-Spooky Halloween Agility Course. We cheered with delight when one of our more cautious pups tentatively ventured just a little way into the tunnel.
Now, that might not sound like much to the average human, but around here, we know that courage comes in all sizes - and sometimes it's with just one paw and a very suspicious look at a tunnel! We celebrated her achievement like she’d just won the Canine Olympics. Because for her, it was a HUGE deal, and we were all very proud!
All in all, another day of witchcraft, great listening skills and four-legged adventurers proving that at Paddington Paws, you don’t have to be fearless to be fabulous!
