We are located at the back gate to Canterwood off of Peacock Hill in beautiful Gig Harbor, WA. We are a multi-discipline boarding barn and riding facility. We hope you enjoy our page!

Indoor stall and outdoor paddock with shelter for each horse. Indoor and outdoor arenas and a round pen. Indoor arena footing well maintained. Horses turned out daily by excellent staff according to established schedule. Boarders belong to Canterwood Riding Club, a non-profit organization.

Canterwood Riding Club held its most comprehensive facility cleanup this year, with ten boarders and their spouses dedicating half or more of their day to the effort. Work included cleanup of the entrance and front of the barn, cleaning up the inside of the barn, cleaning the arena interior, cleanup of facility grounds, and washing and cleaning our tractor and golf cart. We did extensive w**d whacking, hand w**ding, power washing, etc. We have some major projects upcoming, including redoing the arena and round pen footing, building a cover for our composting area (covered by a state conservation grant), and bulldozing and leveling our paddocks to mitigate against accumulation of mud from water runoff during the winter.

Stable features:
-Hot water in tack room and wash rack
--Bathroom adjacent to barn
-4 tack up/grooming stalls in indoor arena
-Box stall and paddock with large shelter for each horse.
Indoor arena footing well maintained. Large outdoor arena. Horses turned out daily to own paddock and brought in at night, with excellent staff handling the horses. Boarders belong to Canterwood Riding Club, a non-profit organization that manages the facility.

Canterwood Riding Club members and the Canterwood community were treated to an amazing exhibition today put on by the Harbor View Vaulters located in Gig Harbor (Key Peninsula). Vaulting combines dance, gymnastics, and horsemanship and requires being harmonious with the horse's movement while doing exercises like standing on the horse and doing handstands and flips (more advanced vaulting). The team brought two horses, one that does walk trot and the other, a 19-hand Percheron/Thoroughbred and Dutch Warmblood, that canters for the more advanced vaulters. Spectators saw all levels of vaulting, from walk/trot exercises by vaulters who just started to advanced vaulters, including one adult. The more advanced vaulters performed free style routines to music. The team also demonstrated using a pommel horse like in gymnastics to practice their routines before performing them on the horses. A large and enthusiastic audience cheered the vaulters after each routine. Refreshments were served after the exhibition.

CRC held a successful Work Day on Sunday, with many boarders participating. We raked up and removed all the leaves and cleaned the barn, including the horses' feed buckets.

Canterwood Riding Club is hosting an exhibition put on by Harbor View Vaulters, located on the Key Peninsula, with internationally ranked vaulters on November 2 at 1 p.m. Harbor View will bring horses and vaulters to demonstrate the sport of vaulting to Canterwood, performing in the Canterwood Riding Club Indoor Arena. Equestrian vaulting is a combination of gymnastics and dance with handstands, flips, splits, spins, and arabesques all performed on horseback. Refreshments will be served by the CRC Board. Open to anyone in the Canterwood community as well as CRC members and staff. Contact CRC President Sue Blanding-Wilson to RSVP at: 507-250-3387.

Canterwood Riding Club held an Open House for the Canterwood Community, which attracted a crowd of residents, including grandparents, parents, and children. CRC's trainer, Delicia Molton Sorensen did demonstration rides on two CRC horses. One of the horses, Gus, was recently shown successfully in a big dressage show and earned high point for the show. The other horse, Dexter, belongs to CRC Assistant Trainer Teresa Eltrich and is being used as a school horse for the many Canterwood children who are now taking lessons with Teresa at CRC. The children enjoyed getting to pet Dexter after his beautiful ride. Refreshments were served to everyone. A second school horse is currently being trained - an adorable Shetland pony named Teddy, who also belongs to Teresa and lives at CRC.

TAKING HOME THE BLUES🤩
Canterwood Riding Club is home to some talented horses!! Lexie and Gus had an incredible weekend being shown under our amazing trainer Delicia at the dressage show at Skyreach 💙
Lexie took first place in all three of her level 3 classes and took home the high point rosette for the weekend!🏵️
Gus took first and second place in both of his level 2 classes and won the high point rosette for his division as well! 🏵️
The owners Sandra (Lexi) and Thelma (Gus) along with Delicia have worked so hard, and we cannot be more proud of them! Congratulations 🍾 🍾
