We started out our morning collecting for outside mares and in the middle of it all, I receive a text with pictures of Im Slick N Flys FIRST EVER BABY TO HIT THE GROUND!!!!

I am OVER the moon! And it’s safe to say he sure does stamp them! We have a couple more due in the next 30 days and I cannot wait to see them!

But for the mean time let’s give the spotlight and a HUGE congratulations to Amie on her Im Slick N Fly filly!!!

M16yr old APHA broodmare/recip I am Lightly considering to list. Only listing because I am shying away from ET after this year, she is a awesome mare. If she’s not bought in the next few weeks I will be pulling her and sending her to the breeding farm

2010 APHA Solid Sorrel broodmare. She is HYPP N/N, Lethal White N/N, and N/W20 for dominant white. She is 15.2 and broodmare sound only. She is an own daughter of FOREVER WESTERN by WESTERN DESIGN. She won the Wisconsin Paint Horse Futurity as a Late Filly in 2010 and has produced APHA/Futurity winner.
I do not need to get rid of this mare, I purchased her as a recip and have considered listing her to carry her own foals for someone because she is a very nice mare!
Bottom of the pecking order in the pasture, easy to trim, bathe, trailer etc.

This!!! It is not always the stallion and it takes a clean healthy mare to successfully get a pregnancy, regardless of how good the semen quality is!!!
I can’t stress it enough to culture at minimum

Stallion Fertility vs Mare Fertility: Who’s Really Responsible?

When a mare doesn’t get in foal, the stallion often gets the blame but the truth is, the mare is statistically the limiting factor more often than the stallion.

Here’s why:

Stallions
• One ej*****te = millions of s***m
• Proven stallions are routinely:
• Semen evaluated
• Motility and morphology tested
• Bred to multiple mares successfully
• If multiple mares settle, fertility is usually not the issue

Mares
• Produce one egg
• Fertility is affected by:
• Age
• Uterine health
• Inflammation or fluid
• Timing of ovulation
• Hormonal balance
• Even healthy mares may need management and veterinary support

The bottom line:

•A good stallion provides quality s***m
•A good mare provides the environment for pregnancy
•Success depends on timing, management, and mare health—not just the stallion

Breeding is a partnership, not a blame game.
Understanding both sides leads to better results and fewer frustrations.
