Lost and Found Horse Rescue Foundation

Founded in 1999, Lost and Found Horse Rescue is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing equines from neglect, abuse, and slaughter. and Mrs.

Lost and Found Horse Rescue Foundation was founded in 1999 by Mr. Truland. We are a registered Maryland non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing equines. Located on a beautiful 120 are farm in Germantown, MD, LFHR is home to as many as 50 equines at a time. LFHR began primarily as a donkey rescue and over the years evolved to include horses as well. Currently, we have decided to go back to ou

r roots and downsize the herd to a dozen or so donkeys. Each animal in our care is special and deserves another chance and new partner for life. At this time we have 4 horses, 2 full size mules and 5 donkeys available for adoption. Adoption fees range from $1 (Companion only horses) to $350 (donkeys and mules). Volunteers 16 and up with large amounts of equine experience are welcome at Lost and Found.

5 week old Baby Ruby came down very ill and had to be trailered to an Equine Emergency facility in the middle of the night. She spent 3 days in ICU being treated for pneumonia, stomach ulcers and severe liver disease. She finally was sent home with an IV catheter in her neck to be given multiple antibiotics and supportive medications. We are excited that her recheck allowed for her catheter to be removed and transitioned to oral medications. Little Miss Ruby is on her way to recovery with several more weeks of medications. We are so happy that the wonderful vets were able to save her life, but we are still paying on her 3600$ bill and fundraising for her next recheck and blood work.

Lance, 4 year old John. He is a small sized standard. He's very shy, but with a bucket of grain and a little bit of time he will warm up to you. He is looking for a furever home with someone that wants to take the time to be patient with him. Good for the farrier, up to date on vaccines and coggins. ADOPTION PENDING

Ava's heart murmur is improving!!! We aren't out of the woods yet, but it was believed to be a congenital hole in the heart that is closing. Ava has made it to the nursery paddock and is running laps like she's part of the derby. Please donate to help pay Ava's vet bills.

It is with a heavy heart to let our followers know that Cous cous lost her battle with laminitis. With multiple different pain managements and corrective farrier work her radiographs and level of pain never improved to a good quality of life. Thank you so much for your help and support during this sad time. Furby, Cous cous' daughter (shown as baby when born on the farm 6 years ago) is now looking for her forever home.

We brought our newest haul of 9 donkeys from Mississippi in late last night. Many, many thanks to Michelle Heffner Chennault-Maraman for raising the money to pull these guys from the road to slaughter! We will keep everyone updated as we work on getting these guys stronger and healthier.

Meet Cous Cous. She recently found her way back to Lost and Found after five years. She started showing evidence of lameness and laminitis. These xrays show that she has foundered. We are doing everything we can to try to save her from breaking through her hoof wall at which point she will have to be put down. The Farrier comes Friday for Corrective shoeing. We need 150$ for the farrier and 375$ to cover the vet bills from the xrays last week.

Please donate to help save Buttercup's feet! She survived the long journey from Carthage MS along with her daughter and 4 other donkeys saved from the kill pen shortly before heading to Mexico. Many funds have gone into making them healthy and working with the farrier to help fix these poor neglected feet. Pay pal account Lost and Found Horse. The farrier comes back on Friday, help us take away those painful feet.
