Today we start puppy evals for litter! Temperament or aptitude testing takes the guess work out of picking the right puppy for your personality and lifestyle.
NOT EVERY PUPPY IS THE SAME, and temperament information helps put the puzzle together of which puppy/family pairing is best suited.
Some families need a puppy who is always ready for adventure and on-the-go. Some families need a puppy who can lounge all day while going to the office for their human’s work. Some families need a puppy who is less sensitive to sight and sound or tolerant to touch (think young kids!). Some families need a more confident and resilient puppy.
After evaluations occur with our SoFun puppies, we are available to work with each family on our reservation list and hash out the pros and cons of each puppy in relation to their lifestyle.
This way it’s a mutually beneficial relationship for both puppy and family, and not only are families needs addressed, but also that particular dog. This sets up both puppy and family for a beautiful, life-long partnership to heal hearts and change lives.
While yes, puppies can change over time and in response to their environment and experiences, at the start we walk away knowing each puppy gets the right family, and each family gets the right puppy.
And in the end — this can be a life-saving measure. Most dogs end up in shelters due to temperament incompatibility with their family. This is something that is avoidable and we work hard to negate.
So, as you look for your future furry family member, ask your breeder if they temperament test and/or what temperament qualities their puppies have. It’s a brilliant idea. ☺️
