A heart murmur in a puppy or kitten could be a sign of more than just a routine finding. PDA is a congenital heart defect in which a blood vessel that should close shortly after birth remains open. Left untreated, it can place extra strain on the heart and may lead to heart failure. The good news? With early diagnosis and intervention, many pets can go on to live healthy, active lives.

A wound that won't heal could be more than a surface injury.

A bone sequestrum is a piece of dead bone that separates from healthy bones, often after infection or trauma. This dead bone can lead to chronic inflammation, delayed healing, excessive new tissue and blood vessels, and persistent draining wounds—often requiring surgical removal before healing is possible.

Recognizing the signs early can help support appropriate treatment and faster recovery.
