Copied from a breeder friend Cuddly Cockers...I have been asked about what genetic testing is, and why I do testing on my dogs? Here is a chart to show what I am talking about. As breeders it is very important testing so you don't blindly produce affected puppies unintentionally. A clear to a clear is totally clear. A clear to a carrier is still okay you still do not have affected puppies. Each puppy has a 50/50 chance of being a clear or carrier so still healthy puppies. A carrier to a carrier = an affected puppy. That is where the health is affected in a puppy. We as breeders want to do best by our puppies to give the best chance at no genetic health problems that can totally be prevented.
