🎄🐾 Holiday Safety Reminder: Protect Your Pets from Toxic Festive Plants! 🐾🎄

The holidays bring joy and festive decorations, but did you know some holiday plants can harm your furry friends? 🚨 Here’s what to watch out for:

🌺 Poinsettias – Mildly toxic but can cause nausea, vomiting, and drooling if nibbled on.

🍃 Holly – Its berries and spiky leaves can upset tummies and irritate the mouth.

🌿 Mistletoe – The most dangerous! Can lead to breathing issues or heart problems if ingested.

✔️ Keep Your Pets Safe:

🌺 Display these plants out of reach or swap for pet-safe decor.

🎀 Supervise pets around decorations.

☎️ If they ingest something harmful, call your vet or a poison hotline ASAP.

Let’s make this holiday season merry, bright, and safe for all—especially our furry family members! 🐾❤️ 📸 Share this post to spread the word!

🎄 The Season for Safety is here! ✨

📍As the weather finally cools down here in Texas (or at least, we hope it is 🤞), remember to slow down and enjoy the moment with your family! Staying in the moment not only benefits mental health, but it allows us to stay attuned to potential safety hazards. Whether it's in the workplace, at home, or during outdoor adventures, a little preparation goes a long way in keeping everyone safe and sound. 🎅🛷⛄️

📍November is National Child Safety and Protection Month!📍

This month is all about raising awareness and taking action to ensure children have a safe environment to learn, grow, and thrive. Whether it’s teaching safety skills, creating secure spaces, or staying informed about potential hazards, we all play a role in protecting the next generation.

Let’s commit to making a difference together! ⛑

🫀 The American Heart Association and American Academy of Pediatrics have come out with new recommendations regarding care for drowning victims based on the latest scientific evidence. Link below, but here's a TLDR from our founder:

1. It is reasonable (benefit is greater or equal to risk) for lifeguards to give in-water ventilations prior to extrication and commencement of CPR.

2. It is highly recommended that supplemental oxygen is utilized as soon as it is available following a drowning incident.

3. CPR and rescue breaths are highly recommended before utilizing an AED.

4. CPR should start with rescue breaths for drowning incidents.

5. Rescue breaths should be given via the first means available (mouth-to-mouth, pocket mask, face shield, or BVM).

6. Lifeguards should have consistent and competency based training in BVMs.

While I’m sure this doesn’t surprise anyone, it does remind me to make sure to focus on in-water ventilations a bit more. I do think in-service training should incorporate in-water ventilations within a training scenario.

🎃 Halloween Safety Reminders for Kids 👻

Parents, as your little ones get ready to trick-or-treat, here are some key reminders to share with them for a fun and safe Halloween:

Stay with the Group: Always stick with your group or a trusted adult. Don’t wander off or enter a stranger’s home.

Watch the Road: Look both ways before crossing the street, and only cross at crosswalks or corners. Stay on sidewalks when possible.

Keep Your Costume Safe: Make sure costumes are easy to walk in and that you can see clearly. Carry a flashlight or wear reflective gear to be visible to drivers.

Be Careful with Candy: Wait until you get home to eat your treats so your parents can check them. Don’t eat candy that looks unwrapped or tampered with.

No Running Between Houses: It’s exciting, but take your time walking from house to house and watch for steps or decorations that could trip you up.

Let’s make sure the night is filled with treats, not tricks! 🎃 Stay safe and have a spook-tacular Halloween! 👻

🌍✨ On World Allergy Awareness Day, let's take a moment to focus on life-saving allergy preparedness. For those with severe allergies, having an EpiPen® nearby can make all the difference in an emergency. Here are a few key reminders:

Always Carry an EpiPen®: Whether at school, home, or on the go, make sure an EpiPen® is readily accessible.

Know How to Use It: Ensure that family, teachers, and friends are trained in how to properly administer an EpiPen®.

Check Expiration Dates: Regularly check that the EpiPen® is within its expiration date and replace as needed.

Emergency Plans Matter: Have a clear action plan in place for allergic reactions, and make sure everyone involved knows what to do.

Quick, informed action can save lives! Stay prepared and spread awareness. 💙
