Flock up for adoption and subject to adoption application and contract (except the backyard mix roosters). The silky rooster would do best with other silkies. 8 hens, 3 backyard roosters, 1 silky rooster. It is preferred all but the silky stay together. H & W Sanctuary has been functioning on extremely low donations for months now. Unfortunately, even with working two jobs it has put my family in a financial bind. The economy is not helping. On top of that, I was diagnosed a couple of years ago with Spondylosis (lower back) which makes it debilitating to do everything running a farm rescue requires. I have been carrying debt from past rescue animals that has not been able to be paid due to the ongoing costs of day to day: feed, hay, straw, vet bills, medicines and farrier services. I literally do not bring in enough to cover what it costs. I also have to focus increased attention on a family member with special needs. With all of that said, I am listing some of our rescues for adoption and some of the non-rescue poultry (just straight sale). All of H & W Sanctuary rescues are only available to approved adopters and a contract that stars the agreement of pet only, no sell, auction, slaughter or give away must be signed before any will be released. I’ve stated a little about each animal under their picture. If interested: email [email protected] for an adoption application, more information and the adoption fee.
***I will add the chickens and roosters when they aren’t hiding from the sun. I have several laying hens and some roosters.
***our rescue houses potbellied pigs that are permitted with the state, but with the regulations, that would take special permission.

This is Luna- We drive out to Ohio to bring her to H & W Sanctuary. She was our official first rescue animal. She was just shy of 1 year old and have had her 3 years now:) The unique aspect of H & W is that many of our animals come here to live out their lives as opposed to being adopted out. As you can imagine, this can be a costly commitment as pigs and horses live into late teens, 20s and even some into their 30s. Many foundations want to give their grants to rescued that are pushing through large adoption numbers, so we have only ever received one grant for $1000. We rely heavily on donations and the Uber and Lyft I do outside of my full time job. We appreciate every like, share, prayer, thought and donation!!! Literally, every single dollar helps!
