Jan and I weren't in the best of moods when we pulled up to our monthly visit at The Oaks. That lasted about two minutes. Once the bunnies came out and we saw the smiles on everyone's faces, our day turned right around. Funny how that works. We come to bring the joy and end up leaving with plenty of it ourselves. 🐰💛

Our first visit to the Cottages at Chandler Creek was a sweet one. The residents gave our bunnies such a warm welcome, and we left with full hearts. We can't wait to come back! 🐰💛

Duchess is friendly and curious, but comfort visits are new territory for her. She peeked out from the stroller again and again, watching how the other rabbits moved between laps, listening to the voices. Sometimes the best thing a bunny can do is observe—let the energy settle before jumping in.

We spent time with two residents whose adult children were visiting. That’s when something shifted in the room. The residents lit up when the bunnies arrived, sure. But what got to us was seeing them turn to their kids and point, share the moment. One family passed Flopsy between them like she was the easiest thing in the world to talk about together. Real, easy conversation. Sometimes that’s what’s missing.

Duchess isn’t ready to be passed around yet. But watching her peek and process? That’s part of it too. She’ll find her place.

Today reminded us exactly what we’re working toward. The connections, the joy, the quiet moments where someone feels seen and calm again. Every comfort visit reinforces why this matters so much. Thank you to our companion rabbits for the work they do.

We made it in The Sun! 🐰

This past month our bunnies spent three days at the Carver Center for Families with the wonderful folks at A Gift of Time, and Brad Stutzman came out to write about it. The photos say it all.

David Caudill held Cindy Lou on his birthday. Rusty Lowe and Linda Herbert both fell for Flopsy and kept saying they couldn’t believe how soft she was. Heather Griffith Peterson got cozy with Ms. Teddywinkle, and Henry Bracamontez made a friend in Mopsey.

This is exactly why Cottontail Wonders exists. A few minutes with a soft, calm bunny in your lap changes the whole room. You can see it on people’s faces.

Thank you to A Gift of Time for having us, to Brad and The Sun for the lovely write-up, and to every resident who let a rabbit steal their heart for an afternoon.
