We have been asked to help a young male, grey tuxedo cat find a home. He’s about 1 ½ years old, and need vaccines and neutering. Please, if you know of anyone that could give this pretty boy a loving home, or would like a barn cat, please message me. I can arrange transport for him. I cannot accept him here at the rescue, as I currently have a momma cat with three tiny kittens. Please share this boy with your friends. Thank you!

Some scenes from around the rescue tonight. It’s so miserably hot, the evening temps are so much more tolerable!

The past two weeks have been really challenging here. My daughter, Kayy, was taken by ambulance and was in UK Hospital. She had a brain aneurysm in 2018 and a stroke this past December, and suffers from horrible seizures. She is home now, thank the Lord.

We have had no plumbing for two weeks due to a break in a septic pipe. No bathrooms, no laundry, no washing dishes. My shower consists of using a garden hose.

It’s really easy to want to give up. I live with severe pain every day from multiple health issues.
These animals that we’ve rescued give me a purpose in life, and a reason to not quit.

This morning after a really bad night, I woke up to one of our adopters, Nancy and Danny, bringing us a big casserole, plastic ware, and flowers. There are not enough thanks to express my gratitude.

Just when I’m at my lowest point, it’s the kindness and generosity of others that lift me up. Brian bringing us shavings yesterday, people rallying to deliver shavings to us when my truck was out of commission…

So THANK YOU to everyone that has supported our rescue and brought a smile to my face. May God bless you all!

Farrier Day for Rescues Big Mama, Rainbow Brite, Starlite, Atlas, Tito and Moonshine. The others will be done next week. It’s just so blazing hot now. Everyone got to lead and stand tied. Jon of Wilber’s Farrier Service is the best donkey trimmer around. Things got rodeo with Tito, who decided to throw himself on the ground- lol.

Farrah has decided she gets the all you can eat buffet. 😂 John told her she had to share with some of the donkeys.

Update! Puppy has a new home! Hooray!!

People know us for rescuing, rehabbing, and rehoming donkeys, horses, and mules. However, if an animal needs help, we try not to turn them away. We have taken in cats, dogs, rabbits, bearded dragons, tarantulas and snakes. Basically, if it breathes, we consider it worthy of help.
The past few days we have taken in a Labrador and a momma cat with 3 adorable kittens not yet weaned.
All need good, safe, loving homes. If you could please share, we would greatly appreciate it. Let’s get them to their forever homes!

Follow up on my previous pity party post:

There still are good people in this world! 3 amazing people brought us shavings, and I cannot thank them enough! You truly are the best, Heather, Jasmine (and Alex), and Kathie (and John)!

Even offers of letting us shower mean so much. Thank you, Darlene, Crystal, Kathie, and anyone else I’m missing.

I know “this too shall pass”. We will get through this, and I look forward to brighter days ahead.

It seems we have a black cloud over us. This past week, our basement flooded and we still have no plumbing in our house. We are using a portapotty, I can’t wash dishes, do laundry, or even shower. The a/c decided to die in our old camper as well as the fridge and hot water tank, so that’s not an option.
Now, I went to go get shavings from Tractor Supply so the new baby will have a clean stall each night. I am literally down to my last bag. My truck’s transmission went out, so I’m dead in the water. I can’t get shavings, I can’t deliver donkeys to their new homes this week. It’s beyond upsetting.
The only bright spot is that I wasn’t towing, and my truck decided to die at home.
I think this is hitting me harder than it should, but I feel like giving up. I’m gross from no showers for a week now, I’m upset that I cant cook due to no washing dishes, I’m frustrated that everything is hitting all at once.
Please say a prayer that we can overcome these latest obstacles in our lives. 😭
Photo of Cadbury and her baby, as this is the only happiness I’m feeling right now.

Baby donkey got to stretch his legs a bit. The vet recommended he get limited turnout due to his lax legs. It’s so cute watching him mimic his momma. Cadbury has turned the corner and become a really good mom. She herds him away from any perceived danger. For those asking, neither are up for adoption until he is weaned, which will be several months. We will continue to break down those walls that Cadbury has built from her previous life. Our next goal is to get her hooves trimmed, now that she’s foaled.

Sweet baby this morning. So glad that Cadbury decided to be a mother and not attack him. Whew!

Update on our new baby donkey!
He did great at Hagyard. They were all so wonderful with him. His IGG came back at 1900 so hooray!! Ashlyn got some foal milk down him, he had blood work done and he got to come home! Ashlyn gave him the e***a for meconium, then had to head back to work. I planned on feeding him every two hours, but Cadbury came through for her baby! Time away must have done her good, as she wanted him back- lol. Best news ever is she’s letting him nurse, he’s latching on and swallowing. Praise God!!
This is why rescue is so important. To everyone that chipped in, bailed the Texas killpen donkeys, and paid transport to get them safely to us, THANK YOU!!
