Today we say goodbye to Maddie as she heads off to the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine to chase her dream of becoming a veterinarian.
Maddie has been an incredible part of our team and has helped us in more ways than we can count. From caring for patients and helping clients to jumping in wherever she was needed, she has always gone above and beyond. Her hard work, compassion, and positive attitude have made a lasting impact on our clinic.
While we’re going to miss her dearly, we couldn’t be more excited for her future. We know she’s going to accomplish amazing things and make an outstanding veterinarian.
Please join us in wishing Maddie the best of luck as she begins this next chapter!
Future Dr. Maddie, we’ll be cheering you on from South Texas! 🧡🎓🐶🐱🐴🐮

This sweet puppy came to see us extremely weak, pale, and lethargic. After testing, we discovered the cause — a severe hookworm infestation that had made this baby dangerously anemic. 🩸🐶

Hookworms attach to the intestines and feed on blood, and in puppies, they can become life-threatening very quickly. This little one was so anemic that a blood transfusion was needed to help stabilize her and give her body a chance to recover. ❤️

Thankfully, after treatment, deworming, supportive care, and a transfusion, this pup is already starting to feel better!

This is your reminder of how important routine deworming and puppy wellness visits are — especially for young puppies. Even indoor puppies can be affected, and symptoms can progress fast.

Signs of hookworms/anemia can include:
• Pale gums
• Weakness or lethargy
• Diarrhea
• Weight loss
• Poor appetite
• Dark/tarry stool

If you ever notice these signs in your puppy, don’t wait to get them checked out!

We are currently in need of gently used towels and blankets to help care for our patients here at Live Oak County Veterinary Services! 🐾

Bath towels, hand towels, beach towels, and small blankets are all greatly appreciated. They help keep our boarding pets comfortable, clean up messes, dry off patients, and make recovery a little cozier. ❤️

If you have any extras you’ve been meaning to get rid of, feel free to drop them by the clinic during business hours. Thank you so much for always supporting our team and our patients! 🐶🐱🐴🐮

These two tiny babies were born here at the clinic yesterday, and unfortunately mama is not wanting to care for them. They are needing a foster who is able to bottle feed and give them lots of around-the-clock love and care. 🍼🐾

Newborn kittens require frequent feedings and close monitoring, so we are looking for someone experienced or willing to take on the commitment to help these little ones thrive.

If you are interested in fostering or would like more information, please call the clinic or send us a message ASAP. 💙🐱

This little guy showed up rocking his LOCVS scrubs and looking like he’s already ready for his first day in the clinic. We always love seeing kids dream big — especially when those dreams involve helping animals. 🐶🐴🐮
Safe to say the future of veterinary medicine is looking pretty cute around here. 😉

Little miss Gucci came in for her puppy vaccines today, so here’s your reminder on why puppy shot series are SO important 👇

Puppies typically start vaccines around 6–8 weeks old and continue every 3–4 weeks until about 16 weeks of age to help build full protection while their immune systems are still developing.

Core puppy vaccines help protect against:
• Parvo
• Distemper
• Adenovirus/Hepatitis
• Parainfluenza
• Rabies (required by law)
Until your puppy finishes their full vaccine series, avoid dog parks, public pet areas, and unknown dogs to reduce the risk of serious disease exposure 🐶🤍
If you just brought home a new puppy, give us a call to get their vaccine schedule started!

We got quite the surprise when Dr. Kate and McKenzie had to assist this mama goat with delivery… FOUR babies! 🐐🤍

Unfortunately, despite everyone’s best efforts, two of the kids did not make it. But the other two are absolutely thriving and getting stronger every day! It’s still hard to believe this mama was carrying FOUR babies at once — definitely not something we see every day!

Here are some updated pictures of the two little fighters and how well they’re doing now 🥰🐐
