Hattie has captured so many hearts this week since being introduced, and now she’s ready to begin the search for her home. This sweet golden retriever was born with a congenital deformity, but it hasn’t stopped her from living life to the fullest. The future of her leg will be determined in a few months, and North Paw Rescue will cover any necessary care determined at that appointment. Could you be the one to give Hattie the forever home she deserves?

Interested in adopting? Please submit an application! We do not respond to inquiries via email or Facebook. Submitting an application is not a commitment—just the first step in the process!

Hattie the Hellion. A tiny girl with a fire that burns brighter than the rest. The name fits, doesn’t it?

We've been keeping Hattie a secret for the last week. We knew her story needed to be shared last night at the Golden Leash Gala. Hattie came to us from a local breeder—no surprise there. Born with one front leg shorter than the others, her X-rays revealed more: underdeveloped bones and a complete absence of toe bones, leaving her with tiny “buttons” for toes. But if you think for one second that slows her down, think again.

This spicy, ginger-colored golden retriever was born for the spotlight, and we’re here to make sure she shines.

And here’s the part that feels like fate: Hattie is the 1000th, yes you read that right ONE THOUSANDTH dog that North Paw Rescue has had the fortune of rescuing.

In just under 37 months—barely three years of operation—our little rescue has given one thousand dogs the second chances they never should have needed. From scared puppy mill survivors to abandoned seniors, from those with broken bodies to those with broken spirits—we have been their safe place, their fresh start, their family.

And now, Hattie is part of that legacy. She is the epitome of resilience wrapped in golden fur. She is proof that different doesn’t mean broken. She is a reminder of why we do this, every single day.

Welcome to the good life, baby girl. You were meant for this.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all for your tremendous support. Last night was a celebration for the books, and we can't wait to continue sharing our milestones with you for years to come.

*applications and inquiries for Hattie are not currently being accepted*
