Marshal Dillon & Miss Kitty. Bonded pair of Chihuahuas. Est. D.O.B. 06 Aug 22. Both are altered. Vaccinations current. Heartworm negative and current on preventions. Microchipped. These dogs are very bonded to one another. They are somewhat skittish of people as they spent a great deal of their youth avoiding coyotes and other predators after being dumped as pups in a common dump site outside of McGregor. They have been adopted once from Ccprnokill and returned after three months because they would not bond with their new humans. These two dogs require a great deal of compassion, patience, and no brutality in their lives to learn to trust humans. They were in rescue for a couple of months prior to their first adoption. Ccpr volunteers and workers would handle them and hold them every day. We would let them know by touching them that humans can be kind. We did not wait for them to come to us. We simply picked them up and walked about with them, petting them, talking to them, singing to them until they relaxed and then sat with them for a while and let them relax longer in our arms on our lap before we would put them back together. These are not the kinds of dogs that will come to you for attention- you have to make the effort. We are looking for a long term foster or forever home that might have the patience and compassion to work with them. Contact [email protected] if you are interested in Marshall and Kitty. Adoption fee for this pair is $300.00 with approved application. Please submit your application via the application tab at CCPRNOKILL.ORG. You must have a positive veterinary reference to adopt from this rescue.

11Nov25: UPDATE: Lucy & Ethel successfully removed Lucy's horizontal stitches then her vertical stitches causing the skin flap to hang and rip more - so back to the vet Lucy went today... Dr. Mabry checker her out and wrote another refill for her antibiotic meds and now she has to be back on Thursday for a re-check and he may stitch her up again depending on the how it looks on Thursday. Praying for a positive outcome but needing more assistance with her veterinary expenses. Thanks to those who continue to help with Lucy and a big thanks to Jeff Pearson for driving her to the vet since she dislocated my shoulder the last time, I drove her. 03Nov25 - Lucy, photographed in the background here behind her sister Ethel even though she has her own bed, was taken to Coryell Vet late yesterday due to a laceration of unknown origin on her right side. Please keep her in your prayers. She is a Coryell County Pet Rescue Dog & has never been separated from Ethel. Ethel had to be medicated to get through he night without her sister. The sisters are both high anxiety and have never been parted. They have been adopted together before (twice & twice returned because families move into places where they can’t have dogs) now the dogs are older and less attractive to adopters, so they are at the rescue long term. Help with this vet bill would be greatly appreciated. Ccprnokill.org. Donation tab.
