🐾 At Canine Companions Ltd., we rescue dogs from being euthanized and train them to become service companions for veterans, children with autism, and the elderly — completely free for those we serve.

💛 Whether it’s through training, gardening, or simply walking a pup, we’re building healing bridges between rescued dogs and people in need.

Help Us Train and Gift Service Puppies to Veterans with PTSD 🇺🇸🐾

We’re excited to share that Canine Companions Ltd is heading to Mississippi to pick up three new puppies who will be lovingly trained and gifted to veterans living with PTSD—completely free of charge.

This mission is close to our hearts. These service dogs will become trusted companions, providing emotional support, stability, and a renewed sense of peace to those who have bravely served our country.

Happy Birthday to our founder, Walter J. Hart!

Walter James Hart, Jr. started Hart’s Dog Training, Inc. back in 1987. As a professional canine trainer Walter not only loves animals, but also loves giving them a purpose to meet specialized needs within the community. Walter has focused on the elderly, the disabled and the veteran community. Inspired by his grandfather, a stroke victim, he founded Canine Companions, Ltd.

The intention of this program is to train canines to be companion assistants, protectors, and service dogs to elderly, paraplegic, trauma victims, sight-impaired, hearing-impaired and other special needs humans who may not be able to afford these exclusive animals otherwise.

Walter was born in Gastonia, NC and grew up in Detroit. Walter thrives on challenges and has overcome many adversities in his life. He finds passion and purpose in giving dogs and people a second chance.
