Some dogs know no fear! Fred happens to be one of them. In the span of 30 seconds, Dude decides that he’s perfectly capable of climbing the backstairs. Blind? Who’s blind? He already had a minor injury to the top of his head when we adopted him. My guess is running into brick walls and/or other obstacles. You’ve never seen a dog prance so quickly across a backyard, only to be met head-on with a concrete planter..and then a brick wall. One solution, two problems fixed. Mr. Fred now has a halo. I haven’t heard THUNK since we put it on him.

So many people have asked us how we do what we do. How do we handle losing so many? Doesn’t it just break our hearts? It does break our hearts…ever.single.time. We focus on the promise we made to them when we agreed to adopt them. We will love you until the very end. I promised Holly I would hold her at the end so that our love was the last thing she knew. It hurts like hell, but we know she knew how loved she was and she deserved that love. That’s how we do it. That’s what we focus on. They deserve to be loved until the very end. This photo was from last night.
