MARE HIGHLIGHT

Driftywilybeetlechip aka Drifter

We added this big soggy mare to our string in July this year and we could not be happier to have her. She is so willing, easy going and is truly a gentle giant.

Drifter was born, raised and trained on a ranch and will do all the ranch chores you can think of with easy. After her life on the ranch Drifter went on to be a high school and 4h rodeo horse for twin girls. Drifter will do it all; barrels, poles, breakaway, heading, heeling, ranch rodeos, trail riding. We have since used her for ranch rodeos, some breakaway, lessons, and trail riding with our son. She’s the perfect horse for beginners to ride one hour and the next hour to be competitive in a different gear with someone experienced. A little fun fact Drifter was used in a therapeutic riding program for a little while as well, she’s such a level minded mare that anyone can get along with. Who doesn’t love a sweet, big, grey mare! Our son Tripp sure does!

We are excited for the 2025 breeding season! We’re not 100% set on a stud yet for Drifter, but we do have a few we’re debating on!

MARE HIGHLIGHT

Beaus Benito Baby aka Ren

We added Ren to our string in July this year. We could not be more happy and impressed by this mare. She truly does it all and gives it her all no matter what it is.

This mare was born, raised and trained on a ranch and will do all the ranch chores you can think of. This mare is fancy broke on top of that, not just your typical ranch broke. If you want to go out for some fun in town and be competitive, Ren will do it. She’s competed in low level cutting, sortings, ranch rodeos, heading, breakaway, barrels, poles, all the gaming events, trail classes, pleasure classes, you name it. Ren has been ridden in the mountains and rough country as well, she is very surefooted and not much phases her. You need to throw a beginner on her for a trail ride or to tote a kid around in the arena, she’ll do it. Who doesn’t love a good sorrel mare!

We are excited for the 2025 breeding season! We have plans to breed Ren to Reyzin The Boon 18 from Jesperson Horses out of Ekalaka, MT.

We apologize we have not been active in quite a while. We lost the start of our program, our bred mare CJ tragically in early 2022. We have gone through a lot of life changes in 2 years since that. New jobs, moving states, adding a new member to our family, and adding some new mares into the mix. We had to put breeding on hold for a little while, but now we’re getting back into it and very excited! We look forward to sharing the mare power we have, our current breedings and future breedings as well!

Our first introduction is to CJ, AQHA name Peppys Royal Diva. We purchased her in August of this year. CJ is a 13 year old cowbred bay roan mare.

To our knowledge CJ has only been a broodmare during her life, but it is possible she was started in her younger years. CJ is a very well mannered mare on the ground and is easy to work with. At some point we plan on seeing what she’s like under saddle. We want to get her working on the ranch and on some cows. We want her to prove herself not just have nice papers.

CJ has several greats on her papers including Peptoboonsmal a cutting horse with PE over $27 million. He is out of Peppy San Badger also a cutting horse with PE over $25 million. Peptoboonsmals mother Royal Blue Boon was quite the cutting mare herself. She had her on LTE over $300k and PE over $2.6 million which is quite impressive for a mare. Smart Little Lena was a great cutting horse and has PE of $34.9 million and LTE over $570k. Two Eyed Bartender is also there, he is out of Two Eyed Jack who was an extremely versatile All Time Leading Sire of his day.

CJ came to us bred to a up and coming running bred stud The Kingsmen. She is fine June 2nd. The Kingsmen has several greats on his papers. He is out of Ivory James who has PE over $17 million. Ivory James is out of Corona Cartel one of the All Time Leading sires with PE of nearly $63 million and his own LTE of $545k on the racetrack. The Kingsmens dam is TR Dashing Badger, an amazing mare, she is a 2x WPRA Reserve World Champion, 4x NFR Qualifier, and 2x NFR Average Winner, with LTE over $850k.

Welcome everyone!

At Bar KC Quarter Horses our goal is to provide a horse that has a good, solid mind and correct conformation, along with one that has the drive to work and has the athletic potential to do any job put before it. We want our horses to excel both on the ranch and in the arena, creating a desired, versatile horse.

We are very excited about what’s to come in 2023 with our first crop! Foal #1 is due in March and foal #2 is due in June! Lots of planning has gone into this. In fact you start planning for a foal over a year in advance. You can imagine the excitement that builds up as due dates get closer!

We appreciate everyone’s support throughout the start of this new adventure. We pray for healthy babies and uncomplicated births.

Keep an eye out for future posts highlighting each mare and who they’re bred too. Along with a post confirming who they’ll be booked to this year for 2024 foals!
