A cautionary tale about listening to your intuition:
As many of you know, in August 2024 I had a c**t completely blindside me and flip over backward with me. I fell from about 6 ft up flat on to my back, sustained a fractured spine in 3 places, concussion, trauma to internal organs, severe nerve damage and months of rehab to be able to walk and function normally again. 7 months later I am now cleared to start addressing the chiropractic issues which were caused. This week's visit revealed a herniated disc, ribs out, hip out, neck having lost all its curvature from whiplash, and various other issues which will take about 4 months of aggressive treatment to manage. The most poignant thing though, was this xray I'm sharing. The purple vertical line is where my spine should be. The impact of that wreck cause my pelvis to be rotated out of alignment by almost 5 cm. To say I am lucky to be walking is an understatement. So, why am I sharing this?
The c**t that did this to me was one I had a bad feeling about in the pit of my stomach EVERY TIME I swung a leg over him. He was dull, he was a brat, and he had zero work ethic. Had i followed my gut and sent him home, id have saved myself tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills, missed work, and misery. So this is your reminder, fellow trainers, or anyone not 100% happy with the horse they have underneath them...listen to your gut. I wanted a win so bad for this c**t's owner that I didn't, and I'm sure paying for it. There are too many good ones out there to bother stressing over one that just isn't thriving in your program. Send them down the road. Those clients you might p**s off aren't the ones who have to suffer the consequences, YOU ARE. Set hard boundaries, listen to your gut, and remember that NO is a full sentence.
