It’s National Dog Day, you say?!

🐶 Every day is National Dog Day ‘round here, but it sounds like a great excuse to show us pictures of your perfect pooches!

Today is National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day!

Did you know that cats visit the vet much less often than dogs? Data shows that nearly 82% of dogs see a vet yearly, compared to only about 40% of cats.

Several things lead to this - cats hide illness well, often dislike travel, and many people think indoor cats do not need care because they do not go outside. Trips to the vet also take time and money, causing some to wait until a problem is very bad to seek care (which then often costs more).

🤔So how often should they go?

🍼Kittens: Every three to four weeks from 6-8 weeks until they are ~4-5 months old for exams, parasite checks and vaccines.

😸Adult cats: At least once every year for a wellness check, lifestyle appropriate vaccines and parasite checks (indoor only kitties don’t need as much protection from kitty-contagious illness as indoor/outdoor).

😼Older cats (over 7–8 years): Twice a year is ideal as they become a mature adult and can begin to have an increase in medical needs. Annual bloodwork is recommended yearly for cats 7 and older. This will allow us to catch subtle signs sooner, leading to a longer and better quality life.

If you have a pet that hasn’t been in for a while, come see us! We are offering 10% off routine annual check up visits next week only (August 24-28) to anyone needing to catch up on that overdue exam!
