Fleas and ticks! So with the weather being already extremely hot this year it bringing out the bugs early. Flys, ants, wasps, FLEAS and TICKS. The last couple weeks I've had a few dogs come in with ticks and fleas, mainly ticks, and unfortunately I got one myself attached to my my hairline yesterday😭😭. Couple helpful tick tips from one of your local groomers
🔴use prevention for both yourself and your dog(s) especially when out and about in nature. Like lake, mountains, forrest, farm fields and even your front yard
🔴you can get oral or topical prevention for you pets and a yard/bush spray for you lawns that are non harmful to your plants. I highly recommend that.
🔴Do a tick check when you get home on both yourself and your dog(s), don't lay in beds where they can hangout to snack on you later.
🔴 ticks and fleas love hot moist areas. On dogs you will more than likely find them in the crotch area, behind or in ears, in between the toes, in the armpits, around the eyes and near the rear above the base of the tail.
🔴For humans they love it in the hair, under breast and testicles, armpits and usually around ankles where its easy to attach.
🔴If you find a ticks use tweezers grab the whole body twist and pull. Make sure you get the head out or it will cause further irritation.
🔴 Flea dirt is dried blood and looks and feels like little gritty pepper flakes. If you get wet cloth and dab an area, flea dirty will come off as a rusty reddish color.
🔴Have your spouse or someone you trust to tick check you. have them look in places you can't yourself😉
🔴tick check those ferral kids cause they love rolling around on the ground. In between those cute little baby rolls, even iff they were ona. Blanket on the grass. Fleas can jump to the equivalent of a human jumping a football field and can survive being frozen and in water up to 48hrs.
🔴🔴if you suspect fleas or ticks before a grooming appointment LET THE GROOMER KNOW!!! That way we can be prepared . My shop flea and tick baths start at $20 add on.
Call your vet and ask what's best for your pets, both cats and dogs as each pet is different. And most of all...
HAVE A FUN SAFE Spring and Summer with all your furry friends and family.🌞🌻🐶🐕🐈
