Hello everyone. I hope all of you are safe out there. I know most of us are still working as our profession is considered essential. If anyone has questions or would like to chat about how their clinic is navigating these times, please don't hesitate to reach out.

For our CVTs that have not seen the IBOVM's announcement about CE requirements, the quote below is copied from their website:

Regarding Continuing Education, (CE), for the upcoming renewal season:
The Board made a temporary rule change to the CE credit requirements. For the renewal season of 2020, we are cutting the number of credits required IN HALF, and ALL of them can be taken online.
(The specific language for the Temporary Rule Change to be posted soon.)

This means that to renew in May and June of 2020:
Veterinarians will only need 10 credits.
CVT’s will only need 7 credits.
All credits can be done online.

I will post a list of on-line CE resources a bit later today.

We have received several questions relating to CVTs and DVMs in Idaho possibly being unable to obtain the needed CE for license renewal this summer. The IBOVM is already formulating a plan to insure that our licenses will not be jeopordized by the travel and meeting restrictions that are currently in place. Some of the things being considered are a smaller number of hours and allowing all hours to be obtained electronically. We will keep you posted as these decisions are finalized.

For the immediate future all ISVTA sponsored CE will be on hold. A decision has not yet been made about the IVMA Summer Meeting scheduled for the first weekend of June. It should be forth coming.

I wish all of you good health as we navigate these uncharted waters. I know we as a profession are still out there doing what we are passionate about. Our patients need us. Please feel free to use this page to ask each other questions and give support and ideas about how to practice safely and efficiently.

NAVTA is urging national and state credentialing bodies to consider temporarily implementing measures of leniency in regard to continuing education requirements in credentialing.

The two considerations requested were:
- Extension of each individual’s application period until a reasonable amount of time beyond the clearing of risks related to COVID-19 has passed.
- Allowing online-based CE content to fulfill the currently prescribed requirement for credential maintenance in its entirety. (i.e. remove the limit on online CE).
