Play with your dogs!!
When I say play, I mean PLAY! Be in the moment with them and play authentically! Show them that you are enjoying their company much as they enjoy yours! I always say, play as if you want that toy too!
Remember to have fun and enjoy your dog!

You can also play authentically with fetch too! (I will get a video of that soon!)

When of comes to vet visits and our dogs and puppies.. so many dogs and owners find this trip to be frustrating and nerve wrecking! It doesn’t have to be! Before going to the vets, fulfill your pups first! Get out all the wiggles and energy with a sniffy walk, play or some enrichment!
At the vet visit, try to get there a few minutes early to walk the parking lot, do some engagement work before going in and a potty break!! Once inside, utilize some treats to help keep them engaged, work on settling and being calm in the waiting room!
When you finally get to go into the back, talk to you vet! If you are working on your dog or puppy not jumping, let them know! They can’t help you if they don’t know!
Stay calm, utilize your training, and communicate to the people around you! Going to the vet offices don’t have to be hard! Make them fun!

Please remember that all dogs and puppies are different, find what works best for you and your dog! If you need help finding what works for your dog, feel free to contact me!

This is Cooper and Faith!! They are both from the Amish and have had a hard time trusting new people.. when I first met Cooper (black) he was very guarded and would bark to try to protect himself.. Faith (brown) was fearful but would shut down and freeze when she gets nervous.. I spent a lot of time working other them separately as well as together to build their confidence not only with people but for themselves! This video might seem small to most but it’s huge that they both let me pet them and they are both happy about it!! 🩷

This is Dart and Katie!
I have been working with both of them on their confidence around others… especially other dogs! They both came in fearful of dogs and were unsure of interactions.
I have been working with them both on trusting me and building a strong bond with them as well as showing them that not all others and interactions are negative. While they both have different stories and needs, they are both doing incredible and flourishing in their training! 🤩

When your dog is playing with others, it’s always important that they will listen and engage with you when asked! In daycare, I always practice recalling away from their friends and play to make sure they know to slow down and come to me if and when needed! I also make sure to release them back to play so they understand when they come to me, to hang out with me instead of just running over and running away.. Recalls are very important and should be practiced in every situation!

Daycare is about socializing.. yes, but did you know socializing doesn’t always mean playing! At daycare, we strive to have dogs learn impulse control with their friends.. play together, rest together.

Building trust with Katie! She is a very nervous girl who is a Covid dog. Her social skills are a work in progress as we are building her up around new people and dogs. She has insecurities around people and doesn’t trust easy. This is day two with Katie and I’m working on her trusting me in different ways. To start, I advocate for her always when near the other dogs.. I make sure they stay respectful near her and recall them away or create movement to remove any stagnation. I am also building her trust by using our small equipment and showing her that 1) I won’t set her up to fail and 2) I am here for her when it gets tough and 3) she can do it! Katie is making great progress and I can’t wait to see how she blossoms! 🩷

*I use a slight bit of leash pressure to encourage and release it once she is in forward motion*

Hello! My name is Samantha Walker and I am sharing my journey as a dog trainer! Here’s some information about me! My love for dogs originally started when I was a young girl who would read, study and memorize dog breeds and their personalities! I have been in the dog industry for close to 7 years, I started in the dog industry with doggy daycares, dog sitting and dog walking services! I started my dog training journey when I raised a puppy for Guiding Eyes back in 2020! After training and raising a puppy, I realized I was hooked on training! Since then, I did everything I could to learn as much as I could in this industry (even though this is an ever growing industry with new things to learn every day!)… between working with different trainers, going to conferences, workshops and seminars, taking classes with my own dogs and shadowing different lessons and classes.. Within the 5 years of training, I also fostered many different dogs with different needs, wants and behaviors from a goofy Aussie to a shut down Bernese mountain dog! I have worked with different owners and dogs by helping them have a better understanding of each other through communication, fulfillment, and compassion. I really enjoy helping owners understand their dogs on a deeper level than just doing obedience behaviors. When working with dogs, I utilize a balanced method which means I focus on the dog and owner in front of me and will give guidance and training through various methods and utilizing different tools. Now, I am so close to fulfilling my dream as being a professional! This summer, 2025, will be the year I get my certification! I am continuing to do private lessons in homes and around the community and will hopefully be offering classes this summer! If my journey and/or my training interests you, please follow along and feel free to reach out! ❤️🐾
