NEW SERVICE OFFERING:
🐾Advanced Obedience 🐾
Advanced obedience is a small sized group class designed for our board and train graduates and day training regulars. Our private lessons are filling up fast, and we wanted to be able to offer you guys more opportunities to practice your skills and ask any questions you might have. It’s important to us that you have the tools and knowledge to be successful with your dogs, which is why we are going to begin implementing this class!

This class will focus on pushing your skills as a handler so that you can more confidently take your dog into touch situations and feel like you have control and communication.

We will be offering this class on September 30th from 6:30-7:30pm and likely throughout October as well.

This class will be $60

Time for a formal introduction to one of our newer team members! Everyone, meet Hannah! Hannah has been working with us for a few months now and has been a great asset to the team! She mostly helps out with early mornings and late nights, so you may not see her around often but if your dog is boarding with us they are definitely spending some time with her!

My love for animals developed early in life. I grew up on a farm in a small town, surrounded by many different kinds of animals. This upbringing gave me a strong foundation in animal husbandry and care from a young age.

We often had stray and abandoned dogs come through our property, which exposed me to a wide variety of breeds, personalities, and temperaments. This was an invaluable experience that helped me develop an understanding of canine body language, communication, and behavior.

Our personal dogs were always Rottweilers, so I have a special place in my heart for the breed. Growing up, my family and I also raised puppies for a service dog program for the blind. Working with so many different puppies and learning about the process of developing a dog into a service animal was an incredible experience—and it was during this time that I truly fell in love with training.

When I moved away for college, I quickly got a dog of my own, and training soon became a major part of my life. Hiking, exploring, and finding ways to enrich my dog’s life became some of my greatest joys. What started as a hobby eventually led me to discover different dog sport communities, where I began taking my training more seriously and was exposed to higher-level training and handling.

One of the things that captivated me most was seeing the incredible bond between handlers and their sport dogs. I knew I wanted to create that same kind of partnership with my own dogs and help others build it with theirs.

Since then, I have worked in several different kennels and continued to expand my experience working with dogs. I currently work full-time as a groomer at Dee-O-Gee, while also helping Kenzie with the care and training of the dogs at Storm Castle Canines.

My goal is to help people better understand their dogs, build a strong relationship with them, and create a fulfilling life together through thoughtful training, clear communication, and meaningful engagement.

SUMMER SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS:

• all boarding services are full through August 6th

• we are closed to all services June 28-July 12th

• private lessons are booking into July and soon will be booking into August - reserve a lesson spot now if you are looking for private lessons

• we will be closed for boarding August 20-24th

• the only group class in July will be our day training group class

Our schedule is filling up faster than it ever has, and for that I am SO grateful. Thank you all so much for the support. Unfortunately this means I will be much less flexible and much less able to accept last minute reservations. Please get your boarding, private lesson, and day training reservations in ASAP.

First, I just want to say I have no formal training in nutrition or medicine. These are just some things I have added to my personal dogs’ diet that I believe helps them stay healthy. Running a boarding business on the same property my dogs and I live on exposes them to many different dogs, so I try and do everything I can to keep their immune system and health high while living such a busy life.

Turkey tail:
Turkey Tail is packed with beta-glucans that help activate and support the immune system. It also works as a natural prebiotic, nourishing beneficial gut bacteria for better digestion and nutrient absorption. Its antioxidant properties help protect cells from damage and support overall health and vitality.

Goats milk:
Goat’s milk is packed with probiotics, digestive enzymes, vitamins, and minerals that help support a healthy gut and immune system. Its smaller fat molecules and naturally occurring enzymes make it easier to digest than many other dairy products. Rich in nutrients like calcium, potassium, and B vitamins, goat’s milk can support digestion, hydration, skin and coat health, and overall wellness.

Bone broth:
Bone broth is rich in collagen, gelatin, amino acids, and minerals that help support joint health, digestion, and overall wellness. The gelatin helps soothe and support the gut lining, while collagen provides building blocks for healthy joints, skin, and connective tissues. Bone broth is also highly hydrating and can encourage picky eaters to enjoy their meals.

Tiko, my malinois also eats a 95% raw diet. She is a very active working dog, and I ask a lot of her. I have chosen to feed her a raw diet because I feel that is what will nourish her body the best for the jobs she is asked to do.

Doc, my Chesapeake eats mostly kibble. He hikes, and trains, but it’s very much a pet, not a working dog. Because his life is not as demanding, I feel as though a high quality kibble with fresh and raw food supplemented is enough to nourish his body and lifestyle.

Raw food, fresh food, and supplements are not cheap and are certainly not an all or nothing thing. Supplement when you can, add raw when you can, or even just throw your dogs some safe table scraps every once in awhile to keep their diet diverse and health as good as possible.

Hello everyone! Just wanted to give a heads up that we will be closed this year June 29th-July 12th! I travel back home to Minnesota each year over the fourth to spend some time with family, and Mary will be traveling to Canada to pick up a new puppy!

Please let me know if you have any questions about this - and please reach out if you need a recommendation on where to send your pup while we are gone!
