Knowing how to work your dog is just as important as knowing how to read your dog.

During a vehicle detection exercise, CCU Instructor Stark demonstrates proper handler movement and positioning while following the K9 through the search.

A handler needs to be able to keep up with their dog, recognize changes in behavior, and allow the dog to work without getting in its way.& ;

This is the kind of hands-on instruction we provide at Custom Canine Unlimited. We're not just teaching students how to run a search. We're teaching them how to become effective K9 handlers in the field.

Patrol K9 training is a team effort, and the decoy plays a critical role in that process.

Communication between the handler and decoy allows each training scenario to be evaluated, adjustments to be made, and specific training objectives to be addressed.

At CCU, we emphasize the importance of understanding not just what the dog is doing, but why. Every repetition should serve a purpose, and every training scenario should work toward developing a more capable, reliable K9 team.
