POSITIVE RABIES ALERT IN THE CLERMONT AREA

This is to advise that a human had contact with a rabid dog in the North Hall area of Clermont. The dog was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab – Virology Section in Decatur. Hall County Animal Control was advised that the dog was positive for rabies on October 28, 2026.

Positive alert signs will be posted in the area where the rabid animal was located. If you live in this area and see an animal acting abnormally, contact Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812 during non-working hours.

Animal owners are encouraged to vaccinate their domesticated pets for rabies. Vaccines are available at the Hall County Animal Shelter for $10, Tuesday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Barber Rd. in Gainesville.

Scooby Dooby Doo where are you? 🥰 Scooby is a 9 year old dachshund who had an awkward landing after jumping off a recliner in May. Scooby was very painful and unable to use his back legs and was immediately rushed to the ER vet and diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease).
Unfortunately, this meant paralysis and the inability to control his bladder. Scooby went daily to his regular vet to release his full bladder. While there, the owners happened to hear about Dr Lance and have been coming since June for alternative therapy to include acupuncture, laser therapy camp and a strict medication protocol. We are all ecstatic at Scooby's progress! He has gone from unable to move his legs to WALKING! It might not be pretty, but it doesn't matter. Scooby gets where he wants to go and is living life again! His owners are to be commended for taking immediate action and following through with the important after-care !
