Today was our last session with Salem!
She has come along way!
She had some insecurity issues along with confidence, and not really trusting any handlers.
We taught her the meaning of YES and what comes with it!
She used to be very tentative about taking food from even your hand, and now she eagerly impatiently wait for her next reward.
She comes when called, stays in a down when asked, can go to place and even walk nicely on a leash.
It was no cakewalk though, but every single dog that I work I gain just a little more experience than I did before.
The dogs only get where they are but the owners doing the deep work!
I feel confident this being our last session together because I’ve taken them as far as they wanted to go and as long as we get there, and then the dog is in a good place and the owner then bittersweetly, I will wave goodbye
Moral of the story is that when you put in the work you don’t give up and if something isn’t working, trying something else might.
Don’t get stuck in what you’re used to be comfortable working out of the box and if you have to build your own box !
I’ll miss you Salem!
