This little girl is the "now" the love of my life! She was found 2 years ago in the middle of a road, about 3 weeks old with hydrocephalus. As she looked like a baby wombat, and not knowing if she would survive, she was loved and cared for under the title of "Baby Wombat". She was believed to be possibly a chihuahua due to her very tiny size, but DNA test revealed Rottweiler, Collie, Staffordshire Terrier and Boston Terrier!! (???!!??)
When she began to thrive, the fluid on her brain decrease and she began to grow!! Her personality is amazing! She is so very happy, very loving and keeps me laughing and loving life ALWAYS. " Baby Wombat" became "Wombee" and naturally is now a permanent addition to my animal sanctuary. Life is so very much richer with the love and companionship of furry friends!!

Animal People is still in operation but in a slightly different capacity. Although we no longer actively take in animals, we continue to help any animal in need and work with other rescue organizations to help us place them. Our main focus now is on the 18 animals we have remaining in our care. They are all previous rescues who for various reasons (mainly health reasons) never found their adoptive family. They are all very content and happy to be staying with us; all playing and getting along together and have plenty of everything they need including LOTS OF LOVE! We continue to provide for all of their medical needs and will see them comfortable through their last days.
As time moves on, we have had to say goodbye to some of our "Comfort Team" members. Sadly, Tango and Kadee are no longer with us, and recently 19 year old Kalooa joined them, and now, they are all waiting at the Rainbow Bridge. It is always devistating to lose our beloved companions but we can always find comfort in the love we shared with them and remembering the richness they added to our lives. We miss them dearly, but they are always just a heartbeat away.

Layla is an 8-year-old beauty with the softest coat! She adores people and just wants to be with her humans. She is house-trained and good in the house. She gets along with submissive dogs, but does not like assertive or more dominant dogs. She also is too interested in cats for their own good. Layla is smart, loyal and loving...the perfect trifecta to make an excellent companion ❤ Meet her today and tomorrow at Petsmart-Archer Rd!

Finn is a 6yo Red Heeler. He's smart, people-oriented and just a well-behaved boy! Although he definitely is happiest with plenty of mental and physical exercise, he also knows how to stop and smell the roses. He's also good with other dogs and house-trained.

Layla is a 6-7yo beautiful mutt. She is extremely people-oriented and eager to please. She desperately wants someone to love. She spent some years on a chain, so she needs an extra loving and adventurous life to make up for lost time! She is best with submissive or laid-back dogs. She is also house-trained.

Sasha and Sara are bonded chocolate Lab sisters who recently turned 10yo. They are a goofy, joyous pair! They are in good health and are still pretty active. They love romping around the backyard and lying at your feet. They are good with other dogs and house-trained.

Our Comfort Team had a wonderful time at Hough Hall today helping to "destress" the students during finals week. Not only was there loads of lovin' and huggin' and pettin', but there was even a little bit of entertainment as well. Smiles all day!!!

This is Kubby. He found our rescue today and is a very sweet, happy, silly, one year old Bloodhound in need of a loving home. He was found on the road, taken in by a family who searched for his owner, took him to the shelter to allow his owners to claim him and then pulled him from the shelter when no one claimed him. They do not have enough yard for him and want him to have an opportunity for a great life. He will be fully vetted and available for adoption this weekend! Finn is an Australian Cattle Dog mix. He is about 3 years old and is of course, he is incredibly smart! He is very loyal and devoted and as a herding breed, he plays very "mouthy". He loves other dogs, not so great with cats, and loves kids, though wouldn't recommend children under 10, due to play tendencies. He is very well behaved, learns very quickly and always wants to please. He would love to have a job or be in a home where someone might be with him most of the day. He is sweet, he is sooooooooooooo loveable, and he so deserves his very own forever loving home!

Buddee is a 9 year old Pitt Bull mix. He is extremely loveable, great with other dogs, ok with cats and loves kids! He can be very silly and loves to play but often forgets just how strong he is ! He has been with Animal People since he was 7 months old and is very accustomed to group living. He does however believe he is a lap dog and loves the opportunity to cuddle every chance he gets. This fun, happy, loveable companion really deserves his very own forever home.

Sammy is an 11 year old Australian Shepherd mix. He is a wonderful family dog, loves kids, defiantly prefers human companionship to animal companionship, and LOVES, LOVES LOVES to play fetch!! He is great with other dogs and cats but is extremely devoted and attached to his human. He so very much needs a human of his own to love who will adore him in return!!
