Gainesville Giving Garden

Gainesville Giving Garden Volunteer Days are Thursdays from 4:30pm-6:30pm beginning February 15th. Every Thursday, join us to help with farm work at any point until 6:30pm.

The Giving Garden is committed to building food sovereignty in Alachua County by providing horticultural education for underserved groups and the wider community, and by donating our produce to enable regional fresh food access. No gardening experience is necessary - all ages are welcome! After Day Light Savings (mid-March) we will shift volunteering hours to 5:30pm-7:30pm on Thursday evenings. Jo

in us every Thursday evening until mid June, when our farming season comes to a close for the summer! Quality food shouldn’t be exclusive to a specific income bracket. We believe that eating local, choosing organic, and supporting sustainable is key to a better world -- one in which people and the environment are healthy, happy, and connected. Access to organic, fresh produce should be a right, not a privilege. As a donation farm, we grow and donate our fresh food to those without access. As an education farm, we uplift the future change-makers of our food system in an effort to achieve an equitable local food community. The Giving Garden is a 501c3 tax-exempt organization.

The Giving Garden works closely with — our nonprofit partner also dedicated to building a resilient local food system, where all of us are connected to the food we eat and our ability to access fresh food! Last week, Working Food led a summer camp at our farm, engaging youth in the power of connecting with local food and the environment. After harvesting crops at our farm, kiddos walked over to the Working Food community center to learn how to cook with and enjoy local produce! Campers were empowered to connect with local food in an engaging and fun way, building skills and inspiration to last a lifetime. It’s moments like these that plant fruitful seeds in young minds to build a brighter, healthier and rooted future… where we are all connected to land, one another, and our power. Thank you to the Working Food staff for cultivating a joy-filled and nourishing learning environment for these young ones at the Giving Garden Farm!

May’s Farm-to-Table Benefit Dinner was such a lovely and impactful gathering! A HUGE thank you to and head chef who generously put forth a gorgeous multi-course meal with all local ingredients. And to our incredible and generous community partner, and head brewer Drake Hoffman, for donating time and energy to bring such incredible brews to this event. Drake even brewed a special beer to celebrate the Giving Garden… called Saison of Plenty! What a beautiful collaboration of community to make for a wonderful night. Together, we raised impactful funds for the farm — helping us grow organic food for families experiencing food insecurity and provide horticulture education to all.

The Giving Garden is a safe space for everyone to be in relationship with land & its abundance. An urban farm that belongs to us all — humans, birds and worms alike. From this little farm in the heart of Gainesville, we wish you a nourishing week. May there be moments that restore your faith in humanity and lift hope within you. It’s hope and connection that empowers us to heal our relationships to others, nature, and ourselves.
