⚠️ IMPORTANT UPDATE ⚠️

Over the weekend, a vehicle accident caused a downed power line near the hospital. AEP is working hard to avoid shutting off power while they make necessary repairs. This is why certain areas are currently blocked off.

They estimate about 2 more hours until everything is back to normal.

In the meantime, please refer to the attached map.

ADOPTED

We’re looking for a special home for an extraordinary pair of Sphynx cats!

Coco and Chanel are not only striking in appearance, they’re bursting with personality.

💛 Coco (with the bold black marking down her face) is a snuggle queen who loves burrowing under blankets and soaking up affection.

💛 Chanel is curious, playful, and always up for an adventure. She's the more laid-back of the two, often content to lounge and observe.

These girls are affectionate, attention-loving, and thrive in the company of people and other pets. They’ll follow you around, ask for pets, and fill your home with love.

Because Sphynx cats require special care—frequent baths, skin maintenance, and consistent temperature control—we’ve set a higher adoption fee to reflect the commitment involved. This is not a breed to adopt on impulse or for looks alone. We’re seeking an adopter who truly understands and appreciates what it means to care for Sphynx cats long-term.

✨ We'd love for Coco and Chanel to be adopted together
✨ Their adoption fee reflects their care needs—not a trend
✨ These girls love other animals, must have cat-friendly pets
✨ Experience with the breed is a huge plus

They were born on November 15, 2023.

If you’re ready to open your heart (and home) to two incredible companions, let’s talk. These girls deserve a forever home as unique and wonderful as they are.

Meet Tiny!

This 12-year-old Chihuahua may be small in size, but she’s got a big dog attitude and a heart full of joy!

Tiny is boarding with us for a few days, and she’s been dancing her way into everyone’s hearts—literally! With lots of pep in her step, tail wags, and sweet kisses, she’s been spreading smiles all over the hospital.

We’re so lucky to have this little ray of sunshine with us.

🎆 Fireworks & Pets Don’t Mix 🎆

If your pet gets anxious during fireworks, now is the time to plan ahead!
Loud booms and flashing lights can be terrifying for many pets—especially during the Fourth of July. If your dog or cat has a history of stress, hiding, trembling, or destructive behavior during storms or fireworks, they may benefit from short-term anxiety medication.

💊 Medication requests should be submitted soon to ensure we have time to review, approve, and fill them before the celebrations begin.

📅 Don’t wait until July 3rd—your pet (and your peace of mind) will thank you!

Give us a call at 614-471-2201 or send a request through the Gahanna Animal Hospital App.

Our grooming team put together an adorable video capturing Margot’s full spa day from start to finish!

She’s an absolute beauty, and we had so much fun pampering her.

If your pet could use a spa day too, give us a call a 614-471-2201 to schedule.

Dr. Paula Marrie is at Gahanna Safety Town!

Since the 1980s, Dr. Paula Marrie has proudly volunteered at Gahanna Safety Town, sharing her passion for animals with our youngest community members. Each year, she looks forward to teaching the upcoming kindergarteners how to care for pets and stay safe around unfamiliar animals.

With the help of her lovable standard poodle, Jeorge, Dr. Paula gives hands-on lessons in pet safety. The kids learn three key rules:
1️⃣ Always ask the owner before petting a dog
2️⃣ Offer a closed hand for the dog to sniff
3️⃣ Pet gently under the chin

She also teaches fun safety tricks like how to “stand like a tree” or “lay like a log” if a dog seems aggressive — and the kids love participating!

Dr. Paula’s favorite part of each class is hearing all the funny and unexpected pet stories kids love to share!

This year is extra special — one of our very own team members, Monica, has her daughter Murphy attending Safety Town! (Pictured)

Thank you, Dr. Paula, for your decades of dedication and for helping cultivate a generation of kind, responsible pet lovers! 💛

🐾 Happy Pet Appreciation Week! 🐾

As we celebrate Pet Appreciation Week, we’re shining the spotlight on the incredible team behind the scenes: our Pet Care Specialists!

They are the first to greet our boarders in the morning and the last to tuck them in at night. These compassionate, hardworking team members are a vital part of our hospital family.

Here’s just some of what they do every single day:

🛏️ Provide loving care to every boarded pet — ensuring clean, cozy spaces, fresh food and water, and personalized attention

🐾 Go above and beyond to reduce stress and make each stay feel like home

💬 Quick to notice and report any changes in pet behavior, helping our doctors to address health concerns early

🧹 Keep our hospital clean — from laundry to disinfecting kennels to maintaining common areas

💗 Offer endless patience, kindness, and love — even on the busiest days

They are true animal advocates and multitasking pros, and our entire team is better because of their commitment, strength, and heart.

We truly could not do what we do without them. THANK YOU, kennel team — we see you, we appreciate you, and we’re so lucky to have you. 💙🐶🐱

Our Story

Husband and wife team, Dr. John Worman and Dr. Paula Marrie, purchased Gahanna Animal Hospital in 1981. The original building had a treatment room/laboratory, hospital ward, small pharmacy, surgical room, and 2 exam rooms. As the hospital began to grow, expansion became a necessity. The hospital underwent a major renovation in 1994 and again in 2005, resulting in our current full-service animal hospital. The facility now has a large treatment area, fully stocked pharmacy, in-house laboratory, hospital ward, isolation room, intensive care unit, surgical suite, grooming facility, doggie daycare area, large boarding facility and 7 exam rooms. The boarding facility is equipped with extra-large runs, indoor/outdoor runs and pet suites with beds and a TV!

Gahanna Animal Hospital now has eight associate veterinarians in addition to the owners. The hospital offers full service wellness care, vaccinations, internal medicine diagnostics, hospitalization, intensive care, radiology, in hospital laboratory, mobile ultrasound, allergy testing, acupuncture, dentals, surgical procedures, long-term case management, behavioral consultations, emergencies, grooming, boarding, puppy classes and doggie daycare.
