There are two new book vending machines you can visit! They're located at the Carver Community Center (1030 Tuscaloosa Ave.) and the East Gadsden Community Center (921 Wilson Ave.).

The Gadsden Farmers Market is OPEN for the season, and we've got a new location!

🍓 Join us every Friday from now until Sept. 5 for the best in local, handpicked produce, farm-fresh eggs, honey, beef, shrimp, baked goods, sourdough bread, specialty treats, and more. (Closed July 4)

📍 We're now located at the Senior Wellness Center in Alabama City (2829 W. Meighan Blvd)

🍯 Time: 7 a.m. - noon

Gadsden State Community College is one of our city's greatest assets. During her time as president, Dr. Kathy Murphy has overseen increased enrollment, improved retention, expanded educational opportunities and much more.

GSCC has also been a critical partner for the City of Gadsden. We've worked together to build the Gadsden Sports Park, establish classes for EMTs and first responders, and focused on building our workforce to help recruit industry.

Dr. Murphy recently took a new position, but we want to thank her for her leadership, partnership and friendship during her time here.

We also look forward to continuing this great relationship with GSCC and interim President Alan Smith. The future is bright!

Thanks to swift action by first responders, we're very happy to report that a missing swimmer was found alive and well on the Coosa River this afternoon!

Around 1:30 p.m., we received a 911 call that someone had lost sight of a swimmer in the Coosa near Jack L. Ray Park and the I-759 bridge.

The Gadsden Fire Department, Police Department and other nearby water rescue units responded, along with some of our drone teams.

They found the swimmer safe around 3:30 p.m. Medics checked him out, and he was a little worn out but fine.

We're glad this event had a positive outcome and want to thank all the first responders who helped!

We want to send our deepest condolences to the family who has lost a loved one this week.

The woman missing from the gorge at Noccalula Falls was recovered yesterday.

In addition to continuing to pray for the family, Mayor Craig Ford said he wants to thank the Gadsden Fire Department, Police Department, and all the first responders that assisted from around the county and the state.

“It’s been a difficult situation, but we appreciate all the hard work and professionalism everyone has shown,” Ford said.

First responders from Gadsden, Etowah County and the surrounding areas are conducting a search for a missing woman in the Black Creek gorge area of Noccalula Falls.

The woman was last seen on a raft on Black Creek below the falls last night, and first responders searched until after midnight, when heavy storms moved into the area. The search resumed at sunrise.

Thank you to all the responding agencies who have been searching all day.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this uncertain time.
