They are loyal, intelligent and beautiful animals and it breaks our hearts to think of them suffering or dying in shelters, or worse yet, dumped on the street. We are a 100% all volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue. We are funded through adoptions and donations from people just like you. Our hardworking and dedicated team is made up of GSD lovers who give up their time to care for and find loving

forever homes for the dogs in our program. The team has fostered and saved over 1,500 German Shepherd Dogs since we began in 2013! Most of our dogs come from shelters where they have been abandoned. Some come from owners who, no longer able to care for them, give their dog to us to find a loving forever home. The good news is that we encounter few dogs that we feel have been abused or seriously mistreated. Each dog that comes into our program is evaluated to the best of our ability. Our evaluators have many years of experience with the breed and have spent many hours learning dog behavior and language, worked with trainers, spent countless hours at shelters, etc. We strive to have dogs in our program that are people and dog friendly and we are firm believers in providing our adopters with full behavioral and medical disclosure on every dog in our program. Our dogs are placed in a foster home that is experienced with the breed or a daycare facility where they are evaluated for social skills with other dogs. Once we have spent some time getting to know each dog, we make the dog available for adoption. When you apply to adopt one of our dogs you will go through our adoption process where we learn more about you, your experience and your lifestyle. Our goal is to make a perfect match so our dogs stay with their new family and everyone is off to a good start. Many of our adopters decide to volunteer by fostering, fundraising, walking/grooming/transporting dogs or becoming matchmakers and helping more dogs find that perfect home. It’s a rewarding activity (no matter how big or small your role) that every rescue (and rescue dog) is grateful for. If you don't have the time to volunteer, you can donate. Every $ we receive goes back to the dogs as we have no paid staff. Thank you for visiting our page and thank you for caring!!

Hi! My name is Stan. I'm a big, confident boy with a lot of love to give. I'm around 6 years old, and we think I'm a Mal/GSD mix, but who knows for sure? I was found in Tulare, chilling out in a fruit orchard before I met my human friends. I was adopted several years ago but unfortunately my person had to return me due to medical issues so I'm back looking for my next great adventure.

I'm a super easy going boy. I love to go for rides and explore new places and meet new people, espeically the petting kind — seriously, who doesn't? I've seen lots of other dogs when out and about and, while I'm curious about them, I pretty much mind my own business. I prefer the girls but non-confrontational boys may be ok, too. I love going for walks and I don't yank my person around, that would be kind of rude for a distinguished guy like me.

I've got a pretty good resume, if I do say so myself. I'm super healthy, active, crate trained, house trained, have my basics and will shake hands if you ask. I have been know to surf a counter or two but you just have to remember to push the food back out of reach. I know I shouldn't but I am a "foodie" and take my treats seriously.

I'm a total lover and meet strangers well. I think I'm pretty affectionate, eager to please, and I've got some pretty neat tricks up my sleeve—like heeling, giving high-fives, and plopping down on command. Oh, and I've got this funny habit of walking between your legs. It's like my signature move! I think someone tried to teach me this and we only got partway. I seemed to have missed the "only when asked, Stan" part.

Now, about those treats... I really really like treats. My current foster mom said I take treats like a starving pirahana and may get your fingers - but not on purpose, I don't like fingers unless they are chicken fingers. Still, I doubt I could help myself from snatching a treat from a kid if given the chance, so it's best if I live with a family that has older kids. I love kids (recently got mobbed by a Girl Scouts group and loved every minutes of it) but those yummy treats........

I'm looking for a family who can be my leader and guide me as I continue to learn and grow. I'm a big, confident boy, and I need someone who knows their way around large breeds like me. But trust me, I'm worth it—I'll be your loyal companion for life. So if you're looking for an awesome dog like me, look no further!

I'll be waiting in Santa Rosa.

Wake up people. Shelters are starting to euthanize puppies and not treat for parvo. Puppies ! There is a crisis. Stop supporting back yard breeders. Backyard breeders are irresponsible, unethical and unless they test for OFA hip/elbow, genetic health issues, they are a backyard breeder and/or puppy mill.

Rescues are full. Cuteness isn't a reason to have a litter. You cannot just breed 2 dogs as you might be transferring health issues from one dog to another. If 50 dogs come into a shelter, the shelter has to make room for 50 dogs. Do you know what that means? Healthy dogs have to die. Just.Please.Stop.

If you support a backyard breeder by buying a dog without a contract, you are an unethical dog owner and you're 100% contributing to this crisis everyone is just ignoring. People are adopting dogs from shelters when they run out of time, and turn to rescue. What good is that? One day you've saved the dog and then you try to look for a home through rescue ? By the way, we're zero funded by the State, none of our volunteers are paid. Donations are down, adoptions are down because everyone has their limit of dogs. Shelters are adopting out dogs for free.

We help spay and neuter dogs that aren't even ours. We share our dog food with the community, flea and tick medicine, and we offer empathy, compassion and our time to hear you. But we are just as human as you are. We have compassion fatigue. We are tired.

You have to have back up plans for your dogs, your aging parents' dogs etc.

LIFE is LIFE !! Rescues are not the solution. Please help by fixing the issue before it becomes a problem. If you still don't understand the above, please comment below and we will do our best to help you understand.
