For whoever may be Dice’s new owner next week

“To all the people who got new horses this week(next week), remember their entire life just turned upside down. The person that taught them to trust and adjust to domestic life is gone. They went through the most intense show weekend of their life and then went somewhere new. Their person isn’t around. Their diet likely has changed. Their surroundings, their herd.
From the way we catch them, to the way we work them, scratch them, tack them, snuggle them…it has all changed. Their one consistent is gone.
Give them grace. Give them time. Give them love.
As for us trainers, remember we lost them too. We loved them enough to let them go. We cried, we held them, and we want the best for them. Have grace for us too ❤️
Most of all, have grace for yourselves as adopters and as trainers.”
🎲This horse has been such an amazing learning experience for me. There were times where I thought I was in over my head and made a mistake trying to start a horse under saddle for the first time, especially a mustang on a time crunch. I’m so thankful for my amazing trainer/mentor who has experience and helped me through this journey. There were days where I left the session feeling frustrated and defeated but the next day, he acted like I was the best thing he’s ever seen. Every mistake I made, he forgave, every time I got frustrated, he stuck with me and tried to figure out what I was asking. I couldn’t have asked for a better horse to learn with and get to spend my summer with. It will hurt a lot to say goodbye but I’m also excited for whoever gets him. He is going to make someone an awesome partner!
