Hey parents, we are excited to be sharing the first training pupdate from our 4th service K9 Doug! He had been excelling in their training journey to become an amazing Service Dog for their future Veteran. Here is what he says:
Hi new best friend,
It’s me—Doug! I wanted to take a little break from training to send you a big tail wag and an even bigger thank you for being part of my journey. Thank you for believing in my journey to become a Service Dog!
Things have been going so well! I’ve been out and about with my trainer in all kinds of busy places—stores, parks, restaurants—you name it. I stay calm, focused, and confident, even when there’s a lot happening around me. The world is a big, exciting place, and I’m learning to move through it like a pro!
But here’s something really special that’s been happening lately… My trainer says I have a gift for noticing when someone is feeling anxious or unsettled. I can’t always explain it, but I feel when one of my people needs a little extra love. Without being asked, I’ll quietly sit next to them, lean in gently, or just rest my head nearby to let them know I’m there. I’m not doing anything fancy—I’m just being me. And somehow, it helps. I’ve seen their shoulders relax, their breathing slow, and their smiles come back. It’s the best feeling in the world.
My trainer tells me I’m right where I should be—and every day, I believe that a little more. I’m working hard, staying curious, and putting my heart into everything I do.
Thank you so much for being part of this. Your support helps me become the kind of dog who brings calm, comfort, and connection to someone’s life. I can’t wait to keep making you proud!
With love and tail wags, Doug 🐾
