Pad Thai has what some call "galaxy" chelicerae: they look blue, pink, green, or purple depending on the light or angle of view. This is why we named her after one of Thailand's more colorful noodle dishes -- stir-fried noodles with lime and cilantro (green), carrots (orange), shrimp (pink), tamarind (red), and bell peppers (red and green).

For the first few weeks of life, baby jumping spiders thrive in a communal environment. This allows the weaker / less skilled spiderlings to benefit from their stronger siblings' skills, such as web-building and hunting, while they catch up. Multiple spiderlings will share the same hammock; occasionally 2 will even share the same fruitfly!

After the first month, spiderlings need to be separated into their own individual enclosures to prevent cannibalism and territory disputes. In the wild, adult jumping spiders are largely solitary and only come together to mate.
