Central Dog Park news from the Community Services department that oversees it.

The Central Park Large Dog Park will be closed November 17, 2025 for a synthetic turf replacement project. The large dog park is estimated to reopen early 2026. The project includes removing the current turf, preparing the ground to improve drainage, and installing new turf. These upgrades will enhance safety, comfort, and play conditions for our com-munity’s dogs. The small dog park will remain open.
Thank you for your patience during construction. For more information, contact Park Planning & Design by email [email protected] or call 510-494-4776.

Give them a home, and you’ll receive endless love. Each of these dogs has a story... some were lost, some were left behind, and all are now ready for a fresh start. They’ve learned what it means to trust again, to play again, and to love again. Now, they just need someone to share that love with. Open your heart, visit the shelter, and meet the loyal friend who’s been waiting just for you. 🐾

In honor of Día de Los Mu***os (Day of the Dead), our team created an ofrenda (altar) at the shelter to celebrate and remember our beloved pets who have crossed the rainbow bridge. 🌈🐾

One of our team members beautifully shared:

“Día de Los Mu***os is a beautiful tradition that celebrates the lives of those who have crossed the rainbow bridge, welcoming their memory back with love, joy, and respect. It’s not about sadness, it’s about honoring the bond we shared and keeping their spirit alive.”

We invited our staff to bring photos, toys, leashes, and notes to remember their cherished companions—and together, we filled our ofrenda with stories, smiles, and heartfelt memories. 💛

We love the diversity of our community and our team, who bring these meaningful traditions to our workplace and help us all better understand and celebrate the people we serve. 🌎❤️

This special tribute reminds us of the deep bond we share with the animals who make our lives brighter every day. 🌼🕯️

Update: Dog Attack in Central Park on October 23, 2025

The Fremont Police Department’s Animal Services Division is providing an update regarding the dog attack that occurred on October 23, 2025, at Central Park. The dog and its owners have come forward and are cooperating with our investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that the larger dog was initially leashed but broke free from its owners’ control and bit a smaller dog. The smaller dog sustained injuries that, sadly, resulted in its death five days later.

The owners of the larger dog have provided their information to the victim dog’s owners and are assisting with our investigation and the classification process for their dog in accordance with the Fremont Municipal Code. This incident is also a civil matter between the parties. Animal Services continues to work with everyone involved as the investigation moves forward.

How to Report a Dog Bite

• Call 9-1-1 if a dog bite is actively in progress.
• If there is no immediate danger, contact Animal Services at (510) 790-6635 or submit a report online at city.fremont.gov/animalshelter.
• If your pet bites or is bitten by another animal or person, you are required to report it immediately to the Fremont Police Department’s Animal Services Unit, as outlined in Fremont Municipal Code Section 6.50.150.

Thank you for helping keep our community safe.

Tri-City community, we need your help. Our shelter is full, and we are seeing more families struggling with food insecurity, sometimes forced to make difficult choices when it comes to feeding their pets. To help, we’re collecting donations of pet food that will be packaged by volunteers into gallon bags (about a week’s worth of food) and distributed to families in need through our shelter, our officers, and our partners at Tri-City Volunteers

This effort is about more than food, it’s about community, compassion, and connection. Working alongside incredible organizations that fight food insecurity has reminded us that there’s no clear line between “us” and “them.” Life can change for any of us, and when it does, community support makes all the difference.

This is a great opportunity for youth groups to collect and donate repackaged kibble, and we’re happy to sign off on volunteer hours for your efforts. Local businesses looking for a meaningful way to give back can also make a huge impact by helping families and their pets stay together and fed.

Donations can be brought or shipped to Tri-City Animal Shelter, every bag of kibble helps keep a pet in their home and a family whole. Any brand will be put to use so use those coupons, shopping skills and connections to stretch your dollar. Orders can also be shipped directly to us.

Bex has been in our care for just over a month and has already gained 16 pounds! This gentle Great Dane girl is incredibly sweet. She takes a little time to warm up, understandable, considering what she’s been through, but once she trusts you, she’s all heart. 💕

We’re looking for a patient and loving family to give Bex the home she deserves. Could it be you?
