Last night I watched the 1997 film, 'Grosse Pointe Blank', directed by George Armitage and starring John Cusack and Minnie Driver. It's been years since I last saw it and it's such a funny black comedy with a killer soundtrack. I also couldn't help but notice a cool bit of New Hampshire history in one of the scenes. Hanging on the wall in Minnie Driver's bedroom, across from a poster of the The Clash, is a poster for a 'We Will Stop the Seabrook Nuke' planned protest on Rt. 1 in Seabrook. Caught me off guard, I had to scroll back and double-check that that's what it was...

Interesting article on David Lynch's approach to sound design...

Metrograph Marathon: Lynch hated 'Twin Peaks: The Return' nearfield mix for TV, so he created a theatrical mix, knowing one day it'd show in theaters.

Awesome concert last night at The Rex Theatre in Manchester, NH seeing Willie Nile and his band again (we first them this past November at the Rex as well). It was also a great thrill seeing my 15-year old son Paul and his cousin George meet Willie and have their photo taken with him (Paul's on the left of Willie, George's on the right). Such a special and memorable night as Paul's been listening to Willie's music since he was five years old and knows most of his songs by heart.

Remastering work continued this morning with Marc Vadeboncoeur at Goodheart Media Production Services on our 2005 film, 'Dangerous Crosswinds'. Since the film was shot and released prior to many of the production and editing advances of the past twenty years we are attempting to use new editing tools to enhance the color and sound in a manner which wasn't possible before.

Had a wonderful meeting yesterday in Concord, NH with Matt Newton. Matt's a filmmaker and for many years was the Director of the New Hampshire Film Office. I first met Matt back in 1996 when he was a film student at Keene State College when he and his crew worked as the sound mixers on our film, 'Old Man Dogs'. Especially exciting yesterday was discussing options and strategies regarding moving forward with our new feature-length film.

Since I was in the area yesterday I took a few photos of the Mill Pond Dam area at Lake Massabesic in Manchester, NH. Back in 1996 this pond served as the location for the lake scenes for our film, 'Old Man Dogs'. The area is more developed now as there are even several parking spots for visitors. During our shoot we had received permission from the Manchester Water Works and, at the time, I remember it felt like we had the lake to ourselves for that weekend. Great memories...
