Bellwether Harbor Animal Shelter is a safe place for homeless animals and people to meet and experience the human animal bond. We are dedicated to the health and wellbeing of abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs and cats in our community. As humans, we provide love and quality care and in return, the animals give us lessons of unconditional love. They are teachers and healers of extraordinary talent. Here at Bellwether Harbor, we nurture the mutually beneficial relationships between humans and animals. We invite you to come to our shelter and visit with the many homeless dogs and cats we have in our safe keeping until their forever home is found.

Thor has a good heart. Does he remember to use his whole brain before making a decision? Not always, but we’re working on it. 😂❤️

At a year and a half old and about 50lbs, Thor is still a young dog with some growing up to do. He likes people, enjoys other dogs, and hasn’t met anyone he didn’t like. He’s happy to make friends and sometimes needs a reminder that not everyone needs quite that much enthusiasm all at once.

Thor can be a little pushy, and his manners are still a work in progress. He’ll need somebody willing to give him guidance, follow through with training, and help him learn what’s expected of him. He truly is a good boy. He just needs some help turning all of those good intentions into good decisions.

There’s a lot to enjoy about a young dog like Thor, especially when you start seeing things click. Having somebody spend time with him, give him something to work on, and be consistent would make such a difference for him. He has plenty of potential, and we’d love to see him in a home where he gets the chance to show it.

Thor would enjoy having a dog friend, with a meet and greet required to make sure they’re a good fit. Cats, however, are a no for this boy.

If you have some patience, a sense of humor, and the willingness to help a young dog learn, Thor might be your guy. He already has the friendly part down. Now he just needs somebody to help with the rest. 🐾

We’ve had quite a few kittens come into our care lately, and we could use some help keeping their food stocked! With so many little mouths to feed, we’re going through both wet and dry kitten food quickly.

We typically feed Purina dry kitten food, and we’re happy to accept any brand of wet food made for kittens. If you’re able to pick up a bag or a few cans while you’re out shopping, we would really appreciate it!

Donations can be dropped off right here at Bellwether Harbor, or you can purchase food through our Amazon wishlist and have it shipped directly to us. Monetary donations are also welcome!

A little fresh air, some time with her people, and a comfy bed to come home to. Kimber’s wish list is pretty reasonable. ❤️

Kimber is 8 years old and around 50lbs. She’s a thick girl, but she’s actually pretty small overall. There’s just a little extra Kimber packed in there.

She’s friendly, loves company, and is still very happy to get out and see what’s going on. She may be older, but she’s certainly not passing up a chance to go for a walk! And her leash manners? Wonderful. She walks past other dogs and distractions like she’s been hired to set a good example.

While Kimber handles seeing dogs out on walks well, she would like to be the only dog in her home. She’s looking for somebody who will enjoy taking her out for a stroll and be just as happy settling in together afterward.

Artemis takes a little time to get to know you, but once she does, you’ll be glad you stuck around. She’s a sweet girl who just needs a chance to get comfortable before showing you more of herself. ❤️

Almost 3 years old and about 40lbs, Artemis is an Aussie/Heeler mix with a smart little brain and plenty to offer. She’s recently discovered that fetch is pretty fun, and she enjoys getting out for walks. Spending that time together is a great way to earn her trust and see her personality come out.

Artemis does well with cats, but she would prefer a home without other dogs. She can spend time around dogs and even make friends with them; she just likes having her home and her people to herself.

We’d love to find Artemis somebody who will give her a little patience in the beginning, include her in their day, and help her keep learning new things. If she sounds like your kind of girl, reach out to us about getting to know her! 🐾

Carmel is 14 pounds of orange fluff and friendliness, and she would love to find a family to call her own! 🧡

At 5 and a half years old, Carmel has left most of those naughty kitten days behind her, but that doesn’t mean she spends all day sleeping. She still loves to play, socialize and be involved in whatever is going on around her.

Carmel is as nice and friendly as they come. She isn’t shy in the slightest and is happy to get attention from anyone willing to give it. Sit down for a little while and there’s a good chance she’ll make herself comfortable in your lap. Get back up, and you might find her following along to see where you’re going!

She’s also an orange female, which is a little less common and makes her even more special. And at 14 pounds, there’s plenty of Carmel to love!

We think Carmel would make a wonderful addition to almost any family looking for a friendly, social cat. She’s past the stage of getting into everything like a kitten, but she still has plenty of personality and is always up for some playtime or a visit with her favorite people.

It’s hard to have a bad day when Skeeter greets you like you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to him. His whole body wiggles, his tail never stops, and he is just as happy to see the next person. We’d like to think we’re special, but he loves everybody. ❤️

Skeeter is a 10-month-old Border Collie and is such a wonderful boy. He’s affectionate, happy, and incredibly smart. Of course, the Border Collie part probably gave that last one away. He’s also good with other dogs and cats!

That smart little brain will need something to do! Skeeter needs a home where learning, activities, and enrichment are part of his daily life. He’ll need a job to put that brain to work, along with somebody who enjoys teaching him and giving him new things to figure out.

There is so much to love about this boy, and we can’t wait for somebody to enjoy all of it outside of the shelter. If you think you could keep his brain busy and don’t mind an enthusiastic greeting, reach out to us about Skeeter! 🐾

Delilah doesn’t need much of an introduction before she’s happy to be your friend. If you’re willing to spend time with her, she’s pretty much sold. ❤️

This sweet girl is 3½ years old and around 65lbs. This shepherd mix is bouncy, fun, and loves being around people. She enjoys getting out for a walk and does well on a leash, so spending time with her is easy to enjoy. She has plenty of personality, but it’s her sweet nature that really gets you.

Delilah hasn’t been formally introduced to other dogs yet, so we’re still learning about that part of her. She has done well walking past them while going in and out of her kennel, though! She also seems to be neutral around cats. A meet and greet can be arranged for potential adopters who already have a dog at home.

We would love to see Delilah with a family who enjoys her company as much as she enjoys theirs. If you’re interested in getting to know her, reach out to us! 🐾

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support our Fall Festival & Trunk or Treat! 🍂🎃

We had so many creative trunks, amazing vendors, and so many smiling faces. It was a great day filled with fun, laughter, and memories made, and we couldn’t have done it without all of you!

Thank you to our volunteers, staff, vendors, trunk participants, and everyone who came out to spend part of their day with us and support Bellwether Harbor Animal Shelter. We appreciate every person who helped make this event such a success, from the planning and setup to everyone who showed up to enjoy the day.

We’re so grateful for the support our community continues to show us and our animals. Thank you for being part of it! ❤

Pickles would like a home of her own. She would also like everyone to keep their hands to themselves until further notice. 😂

At 2 years old, Pickles knows what she likes and has no trouble letting you know what she doesn’t. She is sweet and enjoys some pets and attention, but when she’s done, she’s done. She hates being picked up and handled, so if you’re looking for a cat to carry around like a baby, Pickles would like you to keep looking.

She has a spicy side, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want company. She just needs someone who enjoys her personality and can respect when she wants a little space. There’s plenty to love about a cat who knows exactly who she is, even if she does occasionally hurt your feelings.

Pickles is spayed and up to date on her vaccines. She needs a home without young children, cats or dogs, where she can settle in and be herself. We know there’s someone out there who will appreciate this opinionated girl as much as we do. ❤️
