Shout out to this guy! Gus, a vet student studying at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine spent last week with us and it wasn’t the first time. It’s pretty awesome to see a young man go all the way from undergrad to his senior year of vet school. Proud to be part of his journey.

This week we hosted Caroline, a Junior at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. Students often do "ride-a-longs" and externships at veterinary clinics to gain experience. This year Freeport Veterinary Service is scheduled to have 5 students from the Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa Schools of Veterinary Medicine.

Join us for a meeting on CALF SCOURS

It’s that time of year again, where the wind is howling and the temperature has plummeted. During this period, we seem to find ourselves fielding quite a few phone calls regarding neonatal calf diarrhea, better known as calf scours. This problem tends to rear its ugly head on most people’s operations during periods of prolonged cold stress. As the calf’s immune system is challenged due to environmental stressors, we will see a large uptick in clinical cases of scours.
We will cover common scours causes, treatment essentials, and some new research on how the importance of feeding colostrum and transition milk can help better prevent scours on your operation.
