Winter Wonders: The Unexpected Benefits of Fly Masks in Cold Weather

When we think of fly masks, summer, and buzzing pests come to mind. But did you know these handy accessories can be just as beneficial in the winter? Yes, that's right – fly masks aren't just for summer! Let's explore the surprising advantages of using fly masks during the colder months.

1.Shielding from Harsh Winds
One of the primary benefits of using a fly mask in winter is protection from driving winds. In many regions, winter brings cold temperatures and strong, freezing winds that can be quite harsh on a horse's sensitive eyes.

How They Help: Fly masks are a barrier against these winds, preventing debris and ice particles from irritating or even injuring the eyes. This protection is especially important for horses in open pastures or those that spend significant time outdoors.

2.Guarding Against Snow Glare
Another less-known but equally important benefit is protection from snow glare.

How They Help: Snow glare, caused by sunlight reflecting off the snow, can be quite harsh and potentially harmful to a horse's eyes. It's similar to the glare we experience when driving in snowy conditions. A fly mask can help filter out this excessive brightness, making it more comfortable for horses to navigate their snowy surroundings.

So, unpack those summer fly masks. In winter, they can offer your equine friends much-needed protection from the elements. Whether battling the harsh winds or combating the bright snow glare, UV rated fly masks are a simple yet effective tool in your winter horse care arsenal.
