Almost to your 5th birthday. β€οΈππΎ
HSR KC Stone "KC" has been one of our best! She was always with the kids. She would follow them and protect them. She didn't care who or what was coming if she felt the kids were in any danger, she would push, pull, stand in to protect them. She always would "bop" you if she wanted just the slightest touch. Just to let you know she was there and get a slight pet, rub down, or even just eye contact. She knew what we was thinking before we did most the time.
In August, we had concern of her drinking a lot of water and losing weight. Long story short, we found out she was diabetic. It took a few weeks to figure out her dosage and she was back to herself. She put weight back on, back to playing. Back to "bopping" us, back to barking at every car that would pull in the driveways. A week before Thanksgiving she was scheduled to be fixed as we didn't want to put her through having any more babies with her diabetes. We noticed she had lost a little weight. Went in for her appointment and realized she had dropped 6lbs in 3 maybe 4 weeks. We and our amazing veterinarian didn't recommend surgery at the time. We adjusted her dose and went back for another check a week later. Everything seemed to fall back into place and we continued on with life. Shes been happy. Shes gained her weight back. She was "bopping" all of us. She was barking. She was running and playing even on the morning of Dec 11th. All was great. That evening the kids found her in her favorite spot, her straw bed, but she was weak. Heath brought her to the house. We knew it was bad but thought, oh her sugar is just too low. When she didnt want her snack, we knew. A few hours later, at 9:58pm she passed in my lap. I told her I don't want her to suffer and she can go run the greener pastures with her siblings and friends that have already gone across that rainbow π bridge. Shes not in pain anymore but gosh my/our hearts hurt.
π Thank you for almost 5 years with you KCgirl. Truly wasn't long enough. Your missed so much!!!! Today after grooming client dogs, Lainey "bopped" me. I smiled and laughed. I know that was you. I hope Lainey continues to do that, just like you did. π©·
To some, they are just dogs, but shes one of our "kids", all our dogs (and horses) are family to us.
We do have two daughters we kept back (thankfully) from 2024. Lainey and Streaker have some BIG paws πΎ to fill. But I know they'll do KC proud.
RIP KC
