The puppies turn 8 weeks old this week and sorry to say we currently have received no serious inquiries or prospective suitable homes for these puppies in my local area. 😔 People just aren’t getting new puppies right now, at least in my area. My current puppy class registration have seriously waned in the last several months and numbers are way down. I dont know if it’s the overall economy, or the fact that being close to DC And 4 military installations many are government workers, and we know how much their livelihoods are being messed with, or a combination. THREE of our local rescues currently have younger and older litters they are trying to place as well. So it’s bleak right now and the possibility of having to abandon the entire project is looming. 😭😭 BUT I’M NOT READY TO DO THAT JUST YET!!! I would like to throw out a Hail Mary to all of you, no matter what part of the country you’re in! And who better with all the trainers, wannabe trainers studying to be trainers, experienced dog people and just plain dog lovers on my FB friends list!!!! If you are one of the ones who said or thought, “I wish I lived closer….,” I’M NOW APPEALING TO YOU!!!!I am ready to pivot and fully prepared to offer the free training and guidance virtually on my platforms created during the pandemic! I’m sure there has to be those of you with junior handlers, preteens/teens wanting their own dog, trainers mentoring someone who needs their own dog to train, clients, friends, relatives etc who’d be good candidates for one of these puppies! Consider this my last ditch effort to keep this dream alive. Thank so much for your consideration. 🙏🏾❤️

Puppies had another outing today at Pup 'N Iron Canine Enrichment Center for a “Meet the Puppies” open house attended mostly by PNI friends and families. But they received and gave LOTS of love!💕 😍💕💕❣️

The puppies had their first outing away from home yesterday and visited Pup 'N Iron Canine Enrichment Center for a full examination including a deworming, first puppy shots and I also did a modified evaluation on each pup, just to get a better idea about their personalities, response and reaction to stimuli, their independence, and confidence, as well as any shyness or fearfulness. This will be greatly helpful when it comes time to match them with their potential new owners!

What exactly will the project entail?

Our aim is to adopt these puppies into homes that will empower them with all the necessary tools to help them develop into confident, physically and emotionally well adult dogs. As the sponsor of this litter, Pup 'N Iron Canine Enrichment Center will provide puppy and general dog behavior education, a year’s worth of free training classes, guidance in enrichment activities, socialization opportunities and play groups. The puppies are learning and growing every day. They are being litter box trained which helps them start identifying a specific place to potty rather than randomly going wherever they want. This revolutionizes house training and will be a HUGE help when they go to their new homes. My last two puppies were litter box trained and they ended up being the easiest dogs I’ve ever had to house trained.

Pup 'N Iron Canine Enrichment Center are the proud “God parents” to an adorable litter of Mountain Feist puppies!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 Let me explain……. The idea came to me years ago after watching a documentary called “Babies,” which followed a group of infants from diverse backgrounds and different parts of the world for their entire first year. There was no script, very limited dialogue, just focused on each child’s interaction with their parents, daily regimens, and development. I found it fascinating and have yearned to duplicate this human experiment but with DOGS. Well it has taken 17 years but I have finally found THE right litter of puppies at the right time in my life to embark on this project!

In this Pup ‘N Iron Puppy Project we will be following development of this litter for their entire first year, recording each puppy’s milestones, changes in temperament, physical characteristics, learned behavior and skills, socialization provided, enrichment provided, likes, dislikes, etc. Throughout this first year, each puppy will be provided FREE training in our group classes at Pup ‘N Iron for, the entire first year, as well as discounts on daycare and other special programming. Each puppy will also be provided with a PNI Performance Puppy Starter Pack containing toys, booklets and enrichment games to start them in the right paw!

About the litter: The litter of 5 male puppies is a “surprise” litter of a newly adopted mama dog. The mama is believed to be a Mountain Feist, a small-to-medium terrier breed used to hunt small game and vermin. The sire(s) is also possibly a Mountain Feist. The puppies are currently 3 1/2 weeks old and we are hoping to transition them to their new homes at 8 weeks old.
