7 years old, Scrappy came to our shelter scared and acting out, also in need of a tail amputation. Scrappy was placed in a foster home where with plenty of time and patience he has shown that once you are his person, he loves to cuddle with you. Scrappy is house trained and listens well. He is on the quiet and calmer side and likely around 10-12 pounds. Scrappy would be best as an only dog and with no children. If you are an adult only home, patient enough to let Scrappy know he is safe and loved, Scrappy hopes you will EMAIL [email protected] to tell him all about his potential forever home.

If Evie looks sad here it's because she's still without a home to call her own. Evie, 10 months old, is around 30ish pounds, great with other dogs, loves humans and would likely be fine with cats if a family was to take the time to work with her as right now she thinks they are friends to chase. Evie has had no potty accidents in her foster home, typical to being a puppy thinks everything could be a toy and would love to have a canine companion to run and play with. Evie would be an incredible addition to a home looking for a portable sized companion to cheer on kids at soccer games, vacation with as well as enjoy simple family walks. PLEASE SHARE and if Evie has captured your heart, EMAIL [email protected] to tell her all about what life with your family could be like.

Crooks, 5 years old, lower right, is a low riding American Bully boy on the search for his forever home. Crooks does well with other dogs. He'll snuggle up, but has not shown that he desires a play mate, just a friend to chill with. Crooks is house trained, crate trained, great in the car and on lead. If you or someone you know is looking for a laid back pup, Crooks may be a great fit. He does have a cherry eye that an adopter would need to discuss with their veterinarian regarding if repair is needed. Crooks is neutered, heartworm negative and up to date on vaccinations. If interested in giving him a loving forever home, please tell him a bit about what life with your family could be like by EMAILING [email protected]

If you are looking for a new best friend, you must come and meet Flip. This four year old sweetheart came to us as a stray and has been a ray of sunshine ever since. He’s been working through some skin and coat issues, but he’s making great progress and is looking better every day. 🧡
Flip is a social guy who gets along great with other dogs. He has the sweetest, most excited expression when he sees people, as if he's saying, “Please let me out to play!” He's ready to meet you and become a part of your family. 💕 You can meet Flip this weekend at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Our adoption hours are from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.

You have got to come meet Wilbur, a handsome and well-mannered 3 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix. This amazing pup is a pro on the leash and finds joy in getting outside for some fresh air. He's looking for a home that understands the Australian Cattle Dog's temperament—a breed known for its intelligence, higher energy, and need for both physical activity and mental stimulation.
Wilbur is incredibly gentle and seems to be great with kids; he was very sweet and well-behaved when he met a toddler yesterday. He already knows some basic commands and is eager to learn more, making him a perfect candidate for further training and fun activities. 🐾🤎 This little fella is ready to find his forever family and can't wait to meet you. You can visit Wilbur today at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter in Fredericksburg, Virginia, between 12:00 and 4:00 pm.

Toblerone is a five year old boy who is just about as perfect as they get. This sweet companion has a fantastic temperament and is a friend to everyone he meets, including other dogs and even cats. We're pretty sure he's already housebroken, which means he's ready to settle into a loving home right away. 💕
With his perfect little size and gentle walking style, Toblerone is a dream come true. He's patiently waiting to find the family that will cherish him forever. You can meet him at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter, located at 450 TV Drive in Fredericksburg, Virginia, tomorrow during adoption hours between 12 and 4 p.m. Don't miss your chance to meet this wonderful boy. 🤎

Lydia, one year seven months, stopped by the shelter for a pawdicure and some extra snuggles. Lydia must be the only animal in her home, but she is wonderful with people. She is house trained, crate trained, a great cuddle partner, loves to play fetch and would love a family where she has a chance to get in the water often. We know many homes are not looking for a one and only but we also know that there are so many Boxer fanatics out there, and there are likely more than a few with no other pets at this time. PLEASE SHARE and if interested in adopting, or a rescue, please EMAIL [email protected] Potential adoptive households, please make sure to tell Lydia a bit about what life as part of your family could be like.

Tiny, adorably compact, bent tail, low riding Crooks, 5 years, is somehow still flying under the radar. This handsome guy arrived stray, underweight, unaltered and with a terrible skin issue. Thankfully, he has gained weight quickly with us, his coat is looking so much better and he's neutered, heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations and ready to find a family to call his own. Crooks does have cherry eye, which at this time is not bothering him, however an adoptive household would need to speak to their vet to determine if repair is warranted. Crooks does well with other dogs and because he's a pretty mellow guy, we will say children 10 and up would be best. Crooks is house and crate trained and an awesome travel companion. PLEASE SHARE and EMAIL [email protected] to tell Crooks all about his potential forever home.

Our Story

Animals are held in accordance with state requirements, and are redeemed by the owner, adopted, or euthanized. Our shelter has been on a NO KILL Mission since September of 2013. The shelter also houses a low-cost spay/neuter clinic, which is operated by Lionhearts Inc., a local humane organization. All dogs and cats adopted from the shelter are sterilized within 30 days from the date of adoption, with the exception of puppies and kittens that are too young.
