As promised, here are some winter coat care tips!
1. You should always have a slicker brush and metal tooth comb on hand. These two are your best friends! You can check out our pinned post for photo examples. It is so important that you get down to skin when you brush, and that you aren't only brushing the top of the coat.
2. A good detangling spray is helpful as well, just incase you miss a brushing session or have to push the grooming appointment back longer than recommended. Our groomers enjoy Cowboy Magic, but one also mentioned that corn starch works wonders in a pinch!
3. Remove harnesses and sweaters when you're done walking your pet or they're inside - AND brush them out after doing so. The friction created by a harness or sweats causes the hair to tangle and mat up FAST
4. If you choose to bathe your pet at home, be sure to thoroughly brush them during and after you dry them. Use a hair dryer or pet specific dryer to blow out the coat while brushing. Towel drying and not brushing will lead to a pelted coat over time.
