More than 60 beagles were pulled from the notorious Ridglan Farms testing facility and transported to safety in New York through a massive coordinated rescue effort between us and our trusted partners. They are finally out.
After lives spent in confinement, used for testing and denied the simple comforts every dog deserves, these beagles are experiencing freedom for the very first time. But rescue was only the beginning. Now comes the critical medical care they have long been denied.
Our first urgent plea for help is for Alexander, Joshua, Franklin, Pedro, Antonio, and Buckey— six sweet survivors who are now safely in foster care but each require immediate veterinary attention to assess the toll that years in a laboratory have taken on their bodies.
Every one of these dogs needs: Vaccinations , Spay/neuter surgery, Full bloodwork , Comprehensive diagnostics to evaluate organ function and overall health.
These are not routine intake exams we can afford to cut corners on. These are dogs who have spent their lives being used for testing. We do not know what their bodies have endured, what may have been compromised, or what hidden medical issues may still be waiting beneath the surface. So we are saying yes to every test.
We are sparing no cost when it comes to giving them the thorough care they deserve.
Transporting over 60 dogs, providing emergency intake, and beginning extensive medical work has already created enormous expenses. We cannot do this alone. Because of supporters like you, Alexander, Joshua, Franklin, Pedro, Antonio, and Buckey got their second chance.
Now we need your help to make sure that second chance includes health, healing, and the life they were always meant to have. ❤️
Please. donate today to support their veterinary care and help these beagles begin the journey from surviving to truly living.

Had a full fifteen-minute conversation with my dog this morning about whether we should go to the park or the trail. Laid out both options in detail. "The park has more dogs but the trail is quieter and you love sniffing those trees by the creek." He stared at me intently the whole time. Wagged his tail at "creek." Decision made.
My partner walked in during this discussion and just shook his head. "You know he doesn't actually understand, right?" But here's the thing—maybe he doesn't understand the specific words. But he absolutely understands I'm including him in the decision. That his preference matters. That we're having a conversation where I value his input.
We talk to our dogs like they're human because they're not just animals who live here. They're family members with opinions and preferences and feelings that deserve consideration. When I ask "do you want chicken or beef for dinner?" and he perks up at one option, that's communication. When I explain "I'll be back in two hours, you're in charge of guarding the couch," he takes that job seriously.
People think it's silly talking to dogs like people. But I've watched my dog respond to tone, pick up on emotional nuance, and absolutely make his preferences known when given options. He can't respond with words but he's definitely participating in conversations.
So yeah, in this house we discuss plans with the dog. We ask his opinion. We explain where we're going and when we'll be back. Because he's not property. He's family. And family deserves to be part of conversations.
