Dr. Cheek and Mrs. Jennifer had a fun-filled morning with Mumford School’s PK4 students as part of their Community Helper unit. The children learned all about what a veterinarian does, the importance of rabies vaccines, and how to always find an adult if they see certain wildlife.

The highlight of the morning was Momo the Monkey “surgery”. During surgery, the students learned about the different organs inside the body and how veterinarians work to keep animals healthy. They got to see how doctors use tools to carefully remove objects, and we talked about why it’s important to keep pets safe from eating things they shouldn’t.

It was a hands-on, laughter-filled lesson that gave students a memorable look into the caring world of veterinary medicine. 🐾🐒✨

Today we pause to remember September 11, 2001. 🇺🇸

On this day, we honor the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the bravery of first responders — many of whom worked alongside their loyal service and rescue animals.

As an animal advocates, we especially remember the countless dogs who searched tirelessly through the rubble, bringing hope in the darkest hours. Their courage, loyalty, and unconditional service remind us of the powerful bond between people and animals.

We will never forget.

In Memory of Deborah Fatheree

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of our friend, client, and fellow animal advocate, Deb Fatheree.

While she was a long time client, we really got to know Deb when she made it clear that pets coming out of Hearne Animal Control deserved a chance—that they didn’t have to simply be euthanized. But from that moment forward, she fought for animals with a strength and passion that was unmatched.

Deb was a warrior for the voiceless. She saved over 4000 pets and those pets saved how many of their owners… only God knows. She always put the animals first, and she wasn’t afraid to ruffle feathers to do it. If she believed something needed to be said, she said it—and we admired her for that honesty and courage.

What many didn’t know was that Deb was diagnosed last year. True to her spirit, she faced it on her own terms—just as she lived her life: fierce, outspoken, and unafraid.

We will miss her friendship, her fire, and her unwavering love for animals. Her impact will continue to be felt through the countless lives she saved and the community she inspired.

Rest easy, Deb. You went out just as you came in—on your terms.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Cheek!🎊🎉🎁🎂❤️

Today we celebrate not just another year, but the incredible heart and dedication you bring to our clinic every single day.

Thank you for your selfless care—for standing strong through tough goodbyes, for showing grace when the demands of the job (and clients) get heavy, and for always putting our patients first, even when appreciation isn’t always voiced.

Your compassion, resilience, and kindness don’t go unnoticed. And hey… at least there are puppies!

PS Did y’all know she can clog dance?!
That’s right—when she’s not saving lives, she’s got moves that would make a pair of tap shoes jealous.

We’re lucky to have you. Wishing you the happiest birthday!
