Therapy animals, assistance (or service) animals, and emotional support animals each have different roles.

Therapy animals are registered with organizations like Pet Partners and visit many people in places like hospitals, schools, and senior living communities to share comfort and connection.

And yes, you can usually say hello to a therapy animal during a visit. Just ask the handler first.
