Tank - update!
So everybody, you did it again. Your prayers worked!
Based on previous threads, following surgeries to rescue Tank from GDV, he sufferred from aspiration pneumonia. We got super worried as we left him with the vet to be given more antibiotics and iv fluids. We got a call a mid day saying his temp was still high and they don't open over the weekend so he may need to be transferred to a 24/7 hospital which charges £1200/night just so he could continue to receive iv fluid. Our insurance cover will likely be exhausted.
At 6.30pm, we picked him up and we were greeted by Tank and his waggy tail. The vet said Tank really fought. He was very good patient and fought and fought cos he wanted to come home.
His temp by the end of the day was very normal, and he was chirpy. He even started eating and drinking, albeit small amount at a time. We were able to take him home and monitored him overnight. He continued to get better overnight, passing A LOT of gas 😂
This morning he went back to the vet (different branch which opens for limited time), again he continued to do really well. We got a few more medication and went home. We finally allowed Vinnie (our other dog) to be near him finally, as you see in the pictures. They have such a strong bond and support each other.
At this point, we are feeling super positive that the "worst" has passed. He still has aspiration but seem to be getting better by the hour. Still can't exercise and climb any stairs as he normally would, but one a day at a time.
I am so pleased to have Tank home. And I really thank you all for the support! ♥️ We wish you and your babies safe and good health ♥️🙏
