We would like to thank 1-800-BoardUp of The Triangle for their donation of a First Cloak Electric Vehicle Fire Blanket which will enhance our capabilities in the event we encounter an electric vehicle fire. We appreciate their continued support to the fire departments of Johnston County.

Today 1-800-Boardup of the Triangle had the privilege to sit down for Lunch with Chief Barry Stanley, Mayor Vic Medlin and the on duty crew of the Four Oaks Fire Department. Lots of great talks over our meal. Afterwards we were joined by Fire Marshal Travis Johnson and Deputy Fire Marshal Jordan Piper. During this time 1-800-Boardup of the Triangle donated another Fire Cloak Electric Vehicle Fire Blanket to help departments in Johnston County. This is just another tool that Four Oaks Fire Department has in their arsenal to mitigate fire scenes. We have now donated 9 blankets to JOCO departments. Mainly the ones that covers the interstates and main Highways. It brings us great pride in partnering and helping Fire Departments, Communities and the citizens of Johnston County NC.

Due to increased fire risk, the N.C. Forest Service has issued a ban on all open burning and has canceled all burning permits statewide effective 8 a.m. Friday, March 21 until further notice.

Under North Carolina law, the ban prohibits all open burning in the affected counties, regardless of whether a permit was previously issued. The issuance of any new permits has also been suspended until the ban is lifted. Anyone violating the burn ban faces a $100 fine plus $183 court costs. Any person responsible for setting a fire may be liable for any expenses related to extinguishing the fire.

The burn ban does not apply to fires started within 100 feet of an occupied dwelling. The local fire marshal has authority to issue a burn ban within that 100 feet.
