I know it’s been a little quiet around here lately.

I’ve always worked full time, but lately I’ve had to make the drive into the office every day — about 3 hours on the road round trip. Between work, the commute, kids, the farm and everything else, I’m just now starting to catch my breath and get back to our normal.

But while the page has been quiet, the farm definitely hasn’t been.

The animals still eat. Every. Single. Day. 😂

And right now, HAY is our biggest need.

Grain is right behind it, but getting some hay in would take a HUGE weight off our shoulders.

I HATE doing this, but it’s time for me to ask our Creekside family for a little help.

If you can spare $5, $10, $20 or whatever is comfortable, it all adds up and goes directly toward keeping these bellies full.

And if donating isn’t possible right now, please share this post. Sometimes a share is just as valuable because it gets our animals in front of someone new who wants to help.

Thank y’all for sticking with us, even when we disappear from Facebook for a little while. We’re still here. We’re still doing the work. And these spoiled mouths are definitely still eating. ❤️

The posts may slow down sometimes. The work never does.

We often get requests for volunteer opportunities. Due to our downsizing and limited intake, we don't have the need for daily volunteers. However, Hasty’s Haven does!! If you've sent us a message, we've redirected you to Joann and her team. If you haven't but have been watching for us to post opportunities - here's your chance! We've worked with Hasty's Haven for years, on both a professional and personal level. We actually have 2 HH horses as our personal babies, and couldn't recommend them enough for anyone wanting to adopt or simply interact with horses!

🚨 $5 Friday isn't going so well...
So far... not a single donation. 💔

The hard part about running a sanctuary is that the animals don't stop eating just because donations stop coming in.
The good news? Grain is on sale!

Right now it's only $22.79 a bag. That means every 5 people who donate just $5 buys another full bag of grain.

🎯 Today's goal: 5 bags That's $113.95 total.

It sounds like a lot, but broken down: 🐴 5 people = 1 bag 🐴 10 people = 2 bags 🐴 15 people = 3 bags 🐴 20 people = 4 bags 🐴 23 people = all 5 bags!

That's enough to help feed the horses, cows, goats, and sheep that call Creekside Farm & Equine Rescue home.
If you can't donate today, you can still make a huge difference by liking, commenting, or sharing this post.

Facebook shows our posts to more people when our supporters interact with them, and that costs absolutely nothing.

Every $5 matters. Every share matters. Every animal matters. ❤️🐴🐐🐄

One bag of grain doesn't go very far when you're feeding a sanctuary full of rescued animals.

Last week was Moolisa's birthday.

She didn't get birthday wishes. She didn't receive anything from her wishlist. And the flies are still making life miserable for her. 😭

But today isn't just about Moolisa.
It's about every animal here.

Grain disappears faster than most people realize. Horses, cows, goats, sheep... one bag doesn't last long when you have a sanctuary full of hungry mouths. Before you know it, another bag is gone, then another, and suddenly you're wondering how you're going to afford the next feed run.

That's why $5 Friday matters. One $5 donation may not buy a bag of grain by itself—but when 10 people give $5, that's $50. Twenty people make it $100. 50 people make it $250. Suddenly those small donations become grain in the feed building and full bellies across the farm.

🛑WAIT! So what if you're not able to donate? That's ok! We understand!! But, you can still help us in a way that doesn't cost a penny!!

Facebook often shows our posts to the people who interact with them. A like, a heart, a comment, or a share tells Facebook that this post matters and helps it reach more people. If our supporters scroll past without interacting, many people who would love to help may never even know we're here.

So today, we're asking for one of two things:
❤️ Donate $5 if you're able
📣 If you can't, please like, comment, and share this post so someone else has a chance to see it.

Thank you for helping us care for the animals who depend on us every single day. Every dollar, every comment, and every share truly makes a difference. 🐄🐴🐐🐑

Hay isn't glamorous.

It doesn't get the likes that a rescue story does.

It isn't a dramatic before-and-after.

There are no adoption photos or happy tears.

But it's the one thing our animals can't go without.

Every horse, donkey, cow, sheep, and goat at Creekside Farm & Equine Rescue depends on hay every single day. It's not exciting... it's simply essential.

Tomorrow we're making our next hay run. We need 5 round bales for $220 to keep everyone fed.

If you've ever wondered how you could make a real difference, this is it. Your donation isn't just buying hay—it's providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner for animals who know they're finally safe.

Whether you can give $5, $20, sponsor a bale, or simply share this post, you're helping us keep full bellies and healthy animals.

Thank you for believing that the everyday needs matter just as much as the big rescue stories. ❤️

Because rescue doesn't stop after the trailer doors close. It continues every single day.

Y'all....Moolisa Is Turning 2! 🐄🎉

Our sweet baby Moo will be celebrating her 2nd birthday soon, and we'd love to make it extra special!

Before anyone asks... yes, Moolisa is a Holstein! Dairy breeds naturally have a much leaner, more angular build than beef cattle. Those prominent hips and topline are completely normal for the breed. ❤️

If you look closely at her picture, you'll notice the cloud of flies surrounding her. We do our best to help by wiping her down with fly spray, but it only lasts a short time. Once it wears off, she has to wait until we're able to come back out before she gets relief.

That's why Moolisa's biggest birthday wish is a walk-through fly oiler with brushes. Not only would it help keep flies under control whenever she wants, but she'd also get to scratch herself whenever she'd like.

If you know Moolisa, you know her favorite thing in the world is scratching her growing horns! ❤️ She'll stand there forever if you'll scratch them for her (hense the photo...lol), so we know she'd absolutely love having brushes she can use all day long.

🎂 Moolisa's Birthday Wish List
🐄 Walk-through fly oiler
🦟 Fly repellent for the oiler
🪥 Replacement/scratch brushes for her favorite horn scratches
🌾 Hay
🌽 Cattle feed
🧂 Cattle minerals

If you'd like to help celebrate Moolisa's birthday, we've added her wishes to our Amazon Wishlist (in the comments). If you'd like to support in other ways, our Linktree will be in the comments as well!

Whether you purchase an item, sponsor hay or feed, or simply share this post, you're helping make life a little more comfortable for a girl who asks for nothing more than a good scratch and some relief from the flies.

Thank you for loving Moolisa as much as we do. We can't wait to celebrate her 2nd birthday! 🐄🎂💚

🐁 Courtesy Post 🐁
We have been contacted about a pair of PET rats that are looking for emergency placement. If anyone would be able to give them a safe forever home, please let us know and we'll put you in contact with the owner.
***Again, these are PETS. Not feeders. Not breeders. They are bonded and must stay together. Please research before offering, if you've never owned rats - they have specific needs and require specialized veterinary care.

These two hens—once three before one was tragically hit and killed by a car—have been wandering a neighborhood for months. Through it all, one compassionate homeowner made sure they had food, watched over them, and never stopped searching for a safe place for them.

The owner was eventually located, but it became clear the girls weren't receiving the care they deserved. Although Creekside remains closed to intake, we were able to squeeze these two in.

One of the hens is currently not bearing weight on one leg. There are no obvious injuries, but if she continues to be non-weight bearing, she'll need X-rays to determine what's going on.

Tonight, they have full bellies, a soft place to sleep, and people who will make sure they're never left to fend for themselves again.

A heartfelt thank you to the kind neighbor who refused to look the other way. Because of your compassion, these girls have a second chance.

If you'd like to help with their care—or possible X-rays—we're always grateful for your support. Every donation helps us continue saying "yes" when we can, even while our intake remains closed.

Welcome home, girls. ❤️🐔

Sometimes "setting them free" isn't actually freedom...
This sweet little girl is our newest intake.

She was found sitting alone in someone's yard, unable to fly, in the middle of one of the hottest weeks of the year. No obvious injuries. Still carrying a few baby feathers. Just sitting there, waiting.

It's already 93°, with a heat index of 117°, and it's not even noon. A bird on the ground in temperatures like that doesn't have long.

She doesn't act like a wild dove. She craves human attention, melts into your hands, and happily falls asleep while being petted. Everything about her suggests she was raised around people.

It's very possible she was hand raised by an event company and released for a wedding, funeral, or memorial—something that happens more often than many people realize.

Unfortunately, not every released bird survives. Many don't know how to find food or water, can't avoid predators, or simply aren't prepared for life on their own. Being hand-delivered their food their entire life, and suddenly being forced to forage on their own doesn't end well.

Despite remaining closed to intake, we couldn't leave her there.

Life has been overwhelming lately with surgeries, medical appointments, and everything else happening behind the scenes, so we've been quiet on social media. But the rescue never stops. The animals still need hay, feed, medications, and care every single day.

Donations have slowed to just a trickle, but every dollar truly helps us continue saying "yes" when an animal has nowhere else to turn.

And if you've ever considered releasing birds as part of a celebration or memorial, please choose another way to honor the moment. A symbolic release can be beautiful—but a living animal shouldn't have to pay the price.

For now, this little girl is safe... warm, fed, loved, and finally able to sleep without fear. ❤️🕊️
