**Wishlist Wednesday**

Alright y’all, here’s the deal — our critters are eyeing those round bales of hay like it’s the best BBQ in town, and we’re $100 short to make sure they get their fill.

Hay might not be fancy, but to our horses, goats, and all the fuzzy crew, it’s basically their favorite meal (and trust me, they don’t do fancy).

Contrary to popular belief, scraping is not needed and can actually defeat the purpose when hosing down your horse!

A reminder that scraping your horse is not necessary for cooling. Cool water, lots of it, is the best way to transfer heat away from the body. Next priorities are shade and air flow over your wet horse.

I've followed Save A Fox and Mikayla for a very long time. To hear of her passing is heartbreaking. The loss to the rescue world is tremendous.

And it's a reminder. Words can hurt. No matter if they're spoken with the tongue or the fingers. It is NEVER ok to bully. Not as children. Not as adults. Not in person. Not from behind a keyboard. But its seen so commonly in rescue. Why? I have no idea. But so many see it as a competition. We should be uplifting one another. Cheering each other on. Supporting those fighting the good fight alongside us. Not tearing each other down. Not trying to outdo one another.

This is our invitation to ANYONE going through anything. Any struggle. Any demons. If you need to talk, message us. There will be zero judgement, and your words are safe with us. You matter. You mean the world to someone. And you belong!!

Electrolytes are in the water, access to the creek is available, and grain is being soaked in cold water, all to ensure everyone stays hydrated and safe!! I think even the fish are sweatin' this week!!!

Thanks to your generous donations, we've been able to purchase 3 of the 6 fly sheets needed for our bigs! We still need 3 more to cover our entire "big" herd (we have some from last season that we'll be using as well), and 5 for our minis. Also, as mentioned, if you have used sheets that may need a little TLC, we are happy to make minor repairs to any that are donated!

This is not a post we ever wanted to make.

Donations have nearly stopped, and we are now facing the heartbreaking possibility of shutting down. Every single day, we care for dozens of rescued and sanctuary animals—horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, and ducks—many of whom have nowhere else to go. They depend on us for safety, food, medical care, and love. And now… we’re not sure how much longer we can keep going.

➡️ $200/week goes to hay
➡️ $150/week goes to grain
➡️ Countless more to vet care, hoof trims, medications, supplements, and the never-ending repairs that come with sanctuary life.

We are stretched to the breaking point. The costs are mounting, and without immediate help, we are out of options.

We don’t ask lightly. We’ve always done everything we can to stretch every dollar and make sure these animals get the lives they deserve. But we can’t do it alone anymore.

We've been a little (ok, a lot) quiet on social media, but we can't say the same about farm life! Life with this sugar cube has been nothing short of a blessing over the past week. We've taken time to adjust to her schedule, recover from major surgery, and figure out our new life as a family of 5. But we wouldn't want it any other way!

Now it's time to step back into the social media world, and get back into the routine of running a sanctuary for 30+ animals! If anyone is local, you know how difficult spring is for finding quality hay. We've been paying $65/bale at a local feed store. We'll, the blessings have kept rolling in this week! A local farm has harvested their first cutting of top quality hay, and have it available for a great price, but we have to pick it up straight from the field. Which means we need to grab it before the next rain. It's $50 per bale, and we'll get as many as we can with your support! This will be a huge blessing to our bank account, as it'll save $15 per bale, or $75 per hay run!!

**Happy Mother’s Day** from all of us at Creekside!

Today, we honor the mamas of kids with **2 legs or 4**—
The ones who raised little hands or tiny hooves, who answered cries or bleats in the night, who gave their hearts fully and fiercely to another soul.

We celebrate the mothers who are still with us and the ones who have passed on—your love continues to echo in the lives you’ve touched.

We hold space for the mamas whose children are close, and the ones who carry their babies in their hearts. Whether your child is here earthside or watching from above, you are *still* a mother, and always will be.

To the women who’ve fostered, adopted, birthed, lost, loved, and raised—
To the animal mamas we care for every day, who teach us gentleness, resilience, and fierce devotion—

We’re just a few weeks away from welcoming a new baby to the family, and while we’re filled with joy and anticipation, we’re also facing some big needs at the rescue.

With life about to get a whole lot busier, we’re doing everything we can now to make sure our animals are well cared for in the weeks ahead. But we need your support to make it happen.

- **Hay**: We’re going through 5 bales per week, and with our regular supplier out, we’re sourcing hay at $65 per bale.
- **Grain**: Our animals also need grain, which costs about $20 per bag.
